Review: Bingo Tea Malaysian Cafe

Nov 02, 2019 13:09

Hello friends!
Forgive me as I play catch-up with locations I've already been to.
I will try my best to remember my experiences in detail, and once we're caught up it'll be more liveposting with places I visit in real time.

Enjoy!

My friend @reyreichell is the one who led us to the cute Bingo Tea.

We visited after we finished at a swap meet hosted by the amazing @lameylife/@waxpoeticshop. I mean there'd been food there but it was mostly sweets and we were ready for something more substantial.

But when you look cute you wanna go places that are also cute and Bingo Tea was the closest option.

Ngl, I was a tad skeptical when we first entered. Not because the establishment looked bad, but because I didn't recognize anything on the menu other than the drinks. I was born a country bumpkin and sometimes new things that aren't cheeseburgers scare me still.

It's kind of one of those "customize your own drink" places, and I think that's their main focus; the food is an aside. That being said, after reading descriptions I picked mine and went with it.

Unfortunately I don't remember what it was called; initially I thought it was overpriced but for what you pay you actually get a LOT of food. They were kind enough to give us to-go cartons when we asked, which was good because I could only get through about half of mine. Big bowl is big.

I do remember it was a rice dish with seasoned pork or chicken, a soy sauce marinated soft boiled egg, pickled radishes and steamed broccoli. It actually tasted really good! The meat was a mix of salty and sweet that satisfied my savory food craving well enough.

My drink was custom; it was chilly and sprinkling rain that day so I got a warm matcha latte with coconut jellies. Weird combo but it turns out it was DELICIOUS. I was surprised the jellies didn't melt because the latte itself was very hot; a bit on the sweeter side but I felt it complimented the food really well. The cup was so cute! Unfortunately it was paper-base and I couldn't keep or recycle it.

The employees weren't rude or judgemental, in fact they didn't really seem to care about our outfits at all. We placed our order, picked our table and waited. Everything was made fast, hot and fresh, and we were all quite pleased. There was an Instagram wall to take photos by, but we'd already taken photos earlier in the day so we let the family with two young kids play with it instead. It was mainly white with pink accents, good for sweet and kawaii coords.

We took our time eating, got our to-go containers for our leftovers, and headed on out after about 45 minutes to an hour, thanking the employees and being thanked in return on our way out.

Admittedly, it was a bit chillier than I predicted.

I was going for a schoolgirl with a sweet tooth theme.

Overall Bingo Tea was a nice, cute little place to pop into for a bite. I don't know if I'd deliberately seek it out again, but if I'm in the area again I'd definitely like to stop by.

TLDR:
-Cute interior.
-Good food, lots of food with your order.
-Fun customization options for drinks.
-Instagram wall.

Thank you for reading my review, and I'll catch y'all on the next one.
