tortola, british virgin islands: magnus had just gotten attacked by a school of fish and then more larger fish eating the smaller school of fish. i missed this whole debacle because we were snorkling with our AWESOME masks, and then we realized mine was fogged up, so while I was trying to determine a spot that I could step on to not kill thousands of ecosystems of coral and/or step on sea urchins, i swam mostly back to shore while he had fun. :(
but i did find this coral fan!! ha

frenchman's cove, jamaica: this had this weird river that came from the ground dumping into the ocean, i wrote something in the cover of the book i was reading, the top of the water was cold and the bottom and the sand were hot. the only other people on the cove were the attendants watching television and listening to lollipop, and an older couple, who didn't speak to each other...telepathy of time. anyway, we swam out, and there was some kind of undercurrent keeping us from shore, i got alarmed, magnus thought of other plans. we made it back okay, and then tanned brown and went horseback riding.

one of the tiny planes we had to ride to vieques, puerto rico. we of course went on a whim to the airport and the airline only had one ticket on two planes, one at 830am and the other at 2pm. i rode first. i was tired and hungover from a night in st. croix before, and as i tried to sleep three young boys played around me and echoed in the restroom "IM POOPING!" funny, but headachey.

this is from our night in st. croix, US virgin Islands, which we landing in accidently, when magnus made the ticket reservations he used orbitz or something, saying that "within 30 miles" option, and then after reading the guide book we became suspicious as to which british virgin island st. croix was. it wasnt and it was awful, first deemed charming with a cab ride and a read realizing it was founded by some danish folk and then the free rum punch in the baggage claim...we were rosy cheeked and ready. it turned out to have an odd air of swingerism and ladies too old to be doing so were making naughty jokes in to a microphone at a restaurant resembling senor frogs for +40s and we went to another restaurant for wine. this one was better, we had wine and tuna and sparkling wine and played pool. after we sat with the staff and some regulars at the bar and had dissorono + stories. needless to say, we had that early flight to vieques, following that drunken night in a supposed danish hotel.

in vieques we rented a sweet little jeep with a crack in the window and the check engine light on. it was awesome and magnus drove it with speed and we let the freedom ride through our hair. the hotel we stayed at was aesthetically cool but not worth the price, seemingly los angelinian where we pay for the name of "john hix" anyway, there was no maid service, and we all know how i feel about cleaning. the jeep was the awesomeist, and if it werent for mosquitos I would have slept easily in there.

this was posted at a hotel we would have rather stayed at, but in magnus' drunken night in st. croix he had e-mailed hix island house and asked for 3 nights, i was unaware of this e-mail yet since i was still drunk in the morning when i called, i agreed...ya. i like parrots.

this is me at hix. they leant out these sweet shirt thingys that made me feel monkish and comfy. but were 140 dollars because they were "shirts of egyptian cooottooon, nananananananana."

another hotel we would have stayed at...probably mostly like, the inn on the blue horizon. it was AWESOME. i was sundrunk in this photo. we laughed shortly after.

i got the front seat with the captain on the mini plane...three times! awesome!

full circle, back to snorkeling in tortola, british virgin islands...i am here now, in the hotel lobby with magnus, we just had dinner and the night guards are talking that island jibberish i try to, but cant, understand.
