Thoughts...
Preface: I'm putting this here because it seems like the best place for it. I don't have a journal but if I did these are the things I would write in it. It's important to make rules for yourself. I think those codes you live by are the only really important ones.
Goals for the foreseeable future as student:
Study directly from nature for at least four hours a day, everyday.
Value accuracy.
Develop an approach to painting that is as direct as possible, honest and without too much artifice.
Try to learn as much as possible from every study.
Remember that a tonal study is also an exercise in drawing. Likewise, a painting is also an exercise in drawing.
