Ubuntu? Me too!

Easiest install ever! I just installed the Ubuntu Linux Operating System for my laptop (dual boot with windows, because I need to test web apps on ms internet explorer) and it was so easy! I installed Gentoo Linux on my desktop a few years ago and the process was manual and took a period of 36 hours over a weekend (most of it waiting for downloads/installs). This took me about an hour and was easier than the windows install (no need to flip over my laptop for the umpteen-digit license key, it's legally free!) The most recent upgrades even support the NTFS file system, which allows me to read/write my windows data with ease while I'm using Linux! w00t! The hardest part of this whole process was making sure I didn't somehow invalidate my windows license (I had some trouble the last time I flattened the system, mostly because I purchased the OEM license from the computer manufacturer who didn't provide a Linux OS at the time).

On an unrelated note, I think I fractured my toe this morning. We have a shower door on our bathtub that has a track that's raised about 5cm above the lip of the tub. After a long night of cramming and an early rise to write an exam I was in no state to keep my eyes open, let alone keep my eyes on my toes and, low and behold, I whacked my foot off of the door track...an hour before my exam...which I was actually prepared for. So I hobbled to the exam (my foot was okay during the walk, I was careful and wore sandals) and wrote literally the best exam I've written this entire semester. I thought I was okay until I started walking again and my toe started throbbing like nobody's business. I hobbled to the clinic where they told me they could tape it and that I should take Ibuprofen for the swelling and they sent my on my way.

I took the bus home.

At least Gord's crutches are still around, I can use those until my toe is walkable again. I hope it doesn't start snowing soon or I'll be forced to hobble on crutches in the road (they never plow the sidewalks here). Maybe I could put reflector tape on the crutches? lol, And a stop sign at the foot of the crutch for when I need to cross...like a crossing guard, only hopping on one crutch.

EDIT: I didn't actually break my middle toe - just seriously bruised it (I lost my toenail and everything)
