Ravelry... because I don't have enough to do :P

Yes, I have decided to pick up ye ol' knitting needles again and shake off the dust from my box of wool. I've started up a Ravelry account to keep track of my knitting adventures. I'm going to start off with something for Chudly and Affie's baby boy. By the time I'm done, he'll likely be too old for the thing, but I'm aiming to have it done quickly ( Read more... )

Can't see the picture of your project unless I make an account :/. Take a screenshot so we can see?

The pattern calls for knitting in the round, so that's what I'm going to try... even though my first and only attempt at doing so was an abject failure (but I was using too large needles with too small wool in addition to general inexperience).

I've knitted a bunch of dish-cloths, a child's scarf, a square patch that was supposed to be a scarf but ended up far too wide but I didn't have the heart to frog (it became a side-table table-cloth), and one-third of a cardigan (I lost the sheet with my stitch count. I was very sad). That was all when I was still in high-school though, so it's been almost a decade since my wool has started collecting dust (non-smoking household, they're in a cardboard box, so it should be fine).

Don't know when I'll start, but I'm hoping sooner rather than later.

Thanks! My mother tried to teach me when I was eight but she was left-handed and I wasn't so it was really hard. I stuck with cross-stitch until high-school. I picked it up on my own and figured out how to to the straight knit and pearl stitches, but I still don't know any of the 'fancy' stuff, and my finishing absolutely sucks (but I usually either put tassles on it, like with scarves, or I only have four or five really crappy finishing stitches, like with the corner of a dish cloth)

I'm hoping that I can get around my 'finishing' problem with the whole "it's round and doesn't have an end" thing, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to mess that up... at least the first time :P
