I caved and bought a copy of Skim from Powell's--their last copy. I didn't want to like it, but... to tell you the truth, haha... I was really impressed. I'm thinking of ordering a second copy for my BFF in Thousand Oaks ( Read more... )

not a yuri mangaka but I wonder if you've ever read Est Em's stories. I love her style (very loose fluid lines, beautiful rugged guys eg. MATADORS etc) and some of her simple, short stories are heartbreaking ("Nero" and the story about the old guy who returns to Kyoto)

thanks for the introduction to Skim! I've seen it a couple of times in Kino but both times ended up adding to my Shaun Tan collection orz

I think it's definitely worth getting, or at least checking out!

I haven't read Est Em's stories, no, but I'm always starved for good BL, possibly even more than I'm starved for good yuri. 「(゚ペ ) I'll see if they're at any of the local bookstores!

I think I sent you some est em! I sent you either "carmen" or "meet me after the show."

Oh really? Huh! I'll dig through my folders again--maybe I read them and never connected a name to the story.

If you ever want recommendations, you know who to ask! :3 Or if you want me to surreptitiously take photos inside comics at Powell's, haha, I can do that too.
