I spent the entire day with my niece and nephews yesterday. I went to the playground with Liah and she was a bit upset, because the playground didn't have the "good" equipment and there were no other children there, buuuut why do you need kids your age when you're with your 33 year old aunt-child? I hopped on the swings and went down the smallest slide ever and eventually I convinced her that it was fun and then we had a blast. :)
At least until we saw a very heavy man and Liah asked me (shouting across the playground) if the man was having a baby, too. (He mother and other aunt both recently had babies, so i guess the idea wasn't too far fetched.) So embarrassing... ^^'
31. Well-done kid!fic and good parenting.
Well written kids that make me want my own. Appropriate storylines that aren't too sweet or too dark. Fail!parents, or, rather, parents who do the best they can by their kids under the circumstances. Characters whom you would not expect to be very good with children being great babysitters/godparents.
32. One catches the other Masturbating.
Especially if it doesn't result in sex.
33. Cleverness in the face of danger.
When I was a kid, one of my favourite books was called "Stop - Danger". It was basically an escape room game about a boy who woke up in a strange house and had to work his way out of it, by solving deadly puzzles and stuff. I loved that then and I still love it when a character needs to be clever to survive.
34. "DVD commentaries".
I looooove, when an author explains their process. When I can go and ask "why did you write that scene in that way"? When I get a glimpse of the way an author ticks. I love that! Sadly you don't get a lot of that from good stories/authors. Sorry to say, but very often these comments are pretty much like: "I wrote this because they are soooo cuuuuute together" and not as insightful as I would like it to be.
35. Angry Sex.
Really rough, shove-y sex, angry sex. Fighting, where sex is just another round in the ring.
36. Gross Stuff. ✔
This is the kink i am probably most surprised by because I absolutely hate it in real life, but in fiction I absolutely love gross stuff. Blood. Gore. Whatever comes out of a human body, i love it.
37. Nicknames and Name Calling and Surnames.
People calling each other things like "you fucking imbecile" which roughly translates to "love of my life", but also things like "baby", if it isn't overdone. I very much love the use of surnames, particularly during sex.
38. Endurance. ✔
Characters who grit their teeth and keep going because they have to. Because the world won't stop turning. They fall down and get up and keep going even if everything is fucked up and giving up would be so much easier.
39. Authors who are totally fearless.
Authors who do not care if they will get praised for what they write. Who do not care if what they write uncomfortable or if it will get them in trouble with the fandom. As long as it is right for the characters and the story.
40. Unreliable narrators.
When the narrator is telling us something over and over and over again, and yet we know that it's wrong, or the narrator's self-delusional, or there's been a misunderstanding, etc.
