I cleaned up my computer the other day and found this meme. I was tagged to do this maybe... 5 years ago and I started to write down all 101 things/kinks in fiction i love, but i stopped at 30 or so. I wanted to post more on Livejournal (and comment more!), so I figured finishing the meme and posting it 10 answers at a time would get me started and prompt me to post and read my friends list more frequently.
I can't believe that I actually have responses to older posts and never even had the courtesy to reply. Shame on me! I am determined to do better!
The kinks/things I love in fiction are in no particular order. :)
1. Food.
I love to read about hungry people getting fed, a character watching another character eat. Preparation of food and the consumption of messy food that isn't necessarily sexy. The best example for that is Dean eating Chilly Fries in the Episode Tall Tales. It isn't sexy at all, but I always found it very "interesting"
2. Men's forearms with visible veins on the underside and strong hands. The nape of a man's neck and shoulders.
Do I really need to explain this one? I think not.
3. First Aid. ✔
I absolutely adore it when authors get first aid right. I adore it even more when you know that the author knows what the correct thing to do is, but when the character doesn't do that, because they are panicking/not thinking clearly/thinking they are doing the right thing. This kink also includes wound bandaging and realistic injuries/treatment of injuries.
4. (Forced) change of relationship dynamics.
Whenever a character steps out of their comfort zone and changes the dynamic of the relationships affected. If the "sub" partner in a relationship starts to become more dominant or even if a quieter, younger sibling has to stand up and defend their older sibling.
5. Good Sentences.
I know, that sounds a bit vague. What I mean is sentences that have rhythm, that are alive and interesting. I love alliterations and use them frequently. I also love when the author knows their stylistic devices and how to use them.
6. Bare feet. Bare legs.
It is so lovely to read about a character puttering around the kitchen barefooted. And long, slender legs, male or female are always good, especially when they are not entirely smooth and/or perfect.
7. Handful sized breasts.
On women. ;) Not much to say about this one. I don't read het or femslash frequently, but when I do, I enjoy the description of breasts that fit into the partner's hands perfectly. Especially when the woman in question is described as particularly skinny and/or having a job or a hobby (or fighting evil) where big breast would simply be in the way.
8. Men holding babies.
Especially when the man is topless and has a hairy chest and arms. I like the image itself, of a strong man holding something so small and vulnerable, but even more I imagine how amazing it must feel for a baby to rub their head against a stubbly chin and feel a man's chest hair against their cheek.
9. Characters unable to have gentle tender sex.
Either because they feel they don't deserve to be loved or because they cannot open up to another person, both emotionally and physically.
10. Character titles.
When someone uses another character's title instead of their name, such as calling a Professor "Professor", or when Thorin calls Bilbo "Burglar". Calling Buffy "Slayer". Things like that.
Yay, part one done. Fun!
