ZOMBIE SCIENCE?!

Now with the Scientific Method! A few of these will be explored at length in an upcoming fic, if Serenity and I ever finish it.

Questions: What causes immunity? Who is immune? Who is a carrier?

Control Group: Infected
Experimental Group: Immune, asymptomatic carriers

Hypothesis: Immunity comes from the father
Hypothesis: Carriers had an adverse reaction ( Read more... )

The Milwaukee Protocol is the only current know 'cure' for symptomatic rabies. When you get rabies you don't die of actual brain damage, its just the trauma from your nervous system freaking out. The protocol is to put the patient in a coma to suppress the (erratic) brain activity, shoot you full of antivirals and hope the virus burns out before your body does.

There is a much higher chance of survival with it than without in that with it you might not die.

So potentially if the Green Flu is rabies-like, they'd put zombies into comas and shoot em up and see what happens? I wonder what that'd do to people. :o

One in seven (or thereabouts) might slowly (over a week or more slowly) wake up in varying amounts of pain wondering what was going on and unable to move to move.

From an article I have been using:
"From that point on, Jeanna showed gradual, incremental improvement. Only very slowly did she regain governance of her 5’10″ frame. Gesture and movement, expression, swallowing, and speech all had to be relearned. After a month in medical isolation, Jeanna was transferred for intensive inpatient rehabilitation that lasted several more weeks"

"Facing her were months of intensive physiotherapy to help her relearn all the basic skills of being human: to stand, then to walk, then to run. But a year into her rehabilitation, only a subtle slurring and a rare stumble in her speech remained apparent"

Also this has only ever worked about five or six times on actual rabies patients but maybe it turns out rather more effective on this than on actual rabies.
