I'm sick at home today - a rarity. I sometimes go in later if working after-hours is inevitable on some other day of the week, but to call in "sick" for the whole day is not like me. And when I do, I like to make sure I'm good 'n' afflicted with, like, telltale signs. Today, though, I can't make sense of what ails me. My temperature skyrocketed during the night and I woke up feeling like I was on low broil. Even after drinking about 32 oz. of cold water, I was only somewhat relieved. Sleep was minimal, and I've no idea when I finally managed to doze off. I've kept ice water nearby me all day. The temperature is stabilized, and other than a mild headache, lethargy, and random sneezes (allergies), I don't have any visible proof that anything's actually wrong with me. And I really hate that because if I'm going to take a sick day, I like to make it count with malaria or monkeypox or at least a good solid strain of bubonic plague.
