She can help, but will be working during the day. Plus, I want to go to remote rural villages outside Tashkent. She will probably have no information on these areas. I don't anticipate there are a lot of English speakers there, but maybe I'm wrong.
There are a lot of migrant workers from Uzbekistan in Moscow? I remember a lot of Tajiks! They are the equivalent of our Mexican and Central American workers in America. Personally, they don't bother me. Most of them are dedicated workers, taking hard labor jobs most Americans won't do.
Some of my friends were born here (or there) in USSR. In 90-x they were knocked out of this country, without money, without home. Someone was killed, some women was fucked. In 2000-x uzbeks come to Russia for a job.
It's always interesting to travel to wild places, but as a female traveler extra safety precaution is required. I doubt most of my family has even heard of Uzbekistan or know where it is on the map.
I have been there in 1976. It was very enjoyable trip: nice food, nice people and interesting places (Samarkand, Bukhara). I am looking forward to read from you what is there now.
