Good luck finding a guide ;)
What about your friend? May be they will be able to help you with it?

She can help, but will be working during the day. Plus, I want to go to remote rural villages outside Tashkent. She will probably have no information on these areas. I don't anticipate there are a lot of English speakers there, but maybe I'm wrong.

What do you think? Will it be hard to find English speakers there?

There are a lot of migrant workers from Uzbekistan in Moscow? I remember a lot of Tajiks! They are the equivalent of our Mexican and Central American workers in America. Personally, they don't bother me. Most of them are dedicated workers, taking hard labor jobs most Americans won't do.

You can distinguish between these people? Probably I would not be able to recognize which are Tajik, Uzbek or Kyrgyz.

Some of my friends were born here (or there) in USSR.
In 90-x they were knocked out of this country, without money, without home. Someone was killed, some women was fucked.
In 2000-x uzbeks come to Russia for a job.

I like tham. They are very good people.

"Someone was killed, some women was fucked..." This is not good advertisement for tourism in the country! :)

It's always interesting to travel to wild places, but as a female traveler extra safety precaution is required. I doubt most of my family has even heard of Uzbekistan or know where it is on the map.

I have been there in 1976. It was very enjoyable trip: nice food, nice people and interesting places (Samarkand, Bukhara). I am looking forward to read from you what is there now.

It will be very expensive to fly there from America, but I'll try to save up for an autumn journey.
