I don't know why everyone considers me so brave? It's normal to interact and drink with locals when you travel abroad. I have never been one to just sit in a hotel or resort. I guess I'm a hardcore American. :) We are adventurous people also.

Yes, alone. It is normal for me, even in the States to be doing a lot of traveling and activities alone. Most of my friends are now married, with children, and no free time.

Because of the propaganda-machine that works at full power. A lot of Russian people (more than 80 %) trust official mass media. And these people are being manipulated every day. Television tells them the root of all evil is USA. Television tells them that USA organized Maidan in Ukraine. TV mesmerizes a public opinion. Moreover TV develops hatred against Ukraine, EU, USA...
And once again. You are a brave (or maybe unconcerned) person coz there is a lot of people here in Russia around you who hates you...Sad but true...

Tuva, no! But I've read reports about this city. Maybe on the next journey. On this trip, I saw many grey, depressing cities. I will write about them, and everyone will yell at me. :)) However, on my blog, I simply share my honest impressions about the people and places I encounter. If people do not like my view, it's fine. I'm used to being abused in the Russian blogosphere. :)
