Estonia - the country. :) I traveled there last autumn and still have some stories to publish about the journey. And there are only black bears in Virginia. My hat is brown. So, I'm safe! :)
I like Estonia very much! I have a few stories about the country in the blog. Just search the "Estonia" tag. People there were very friendly, open and welcoming. At least in the rural villages I visited. I've never been to Tallinn.
Oh, Estonians love Americans, no doubts about that. But Russians (even friendly ones) trigger different reaction sometimes.
My teenage daughter doesn't speak Estonian, so when she hangs out with her friends there they speak English, when outside, since speaking Russian is uncool and frowned upon. And I'm not cool with ANY kind of discrimination.
I live in eastern PA, haven't been in Estonia ever since I fled in the late 90s (I'm an official enemy of the state there). So yes, I'm rather biased towards that nation.
But I admit, the Old City (or should we write Ye Olde City?) is really amazing and most preserved out of all Hanseatic cities.
Well, I dont want to broadcast the details of it all over the internet, but drop me a line next time you're in Philly area, we can meet for coffee and such... :)
And why the heck is Estonia?
