"No man is a failure who has friends"

My Christmas haul was alright (got a lot of books I wanted, the BBC version of The Office on DVD and plenty of money), time with the family was fun- but I forgot to sing "Happy birthday" to Jesus again. So it goes.

not_on_fire made my day by leaving me a voicemail message that included the immortal lines: "Merry Christams and all that. I hope you got what you wanted, but they don't usually wrap up hot girls in present wrapping- unless they're up for it... um, I'm going to stop there."

On a more serious note, I'm going to embark on a Christmas tradition of watching It's a wonderful Life , a movie that I'm not afraid to admit will always tug on my heartstrings- especially the line that's in this entry title. So I sincerely hope everyone had a good day- even if the only thing you're celebrating is a day off from work or a day with the family. And thanks to everyone who's ever given a shit about me, sometimes I look too much at the flaws in my life and forget that I've been given a lot of great things in life that I don't deserve and a lot of great people sticking by me who should've kicked me to the curb long ago.

After watching It's a wonderful life I'm going to most likely spend some time finishing up work on a last minute Christmas present to a good friend I feel like I've kind of neglected. I'll be up very late, but the day after holidays at work is always a nightmare anyway- so regardless I'd have to use tremendous amounts of caffeine and a good sense of humor, so now I'll additionally use those as an antidote for my lack of sleep. I'll push myself through the day, by knowing that by the end of it, I'll be drinking Weihenstephans and talking about girls, politics, science and soccer with not_on_fire, so it's all good.
