» Human Alias: Harmony Maria

» Flair:
Peace of mind ~ Harmonia's flair affects people in different ways. For some she instils some sort of inner peace, the turmoil of the mind is calmed in her presence and a sense of serenity is brought with it. For others a quick flare of temper is subdued and replaced with a sudden desire to solve their problem peacefully. Truly crazy people who are constantly are war with their own minds cannot be helped, and the frustration of not being able to battle their demons is added to by the sudden want to make peace, thus worsening their situations. People will uncontrollable tempers are not really affected either, as the want for war is much more dominant in the human brain than the want for peace.
» Flair Type: Continuous
» Fitting in: Anger management councillor
» Weakness:
They say there hasn't been a second of peace since the first world war started and, well as you can probably guess , Harm doesn't really take that too well. It's a little hard, chatting on about peace when no one wants to listen to you. It seems the hostile bug is in everyone and sooner or later it has to come out. The same goes for Harmonia, mind you, as she's taken on a habit of ending minor disputes (family arguments, children fighting in the street, etc.) by the use of force. It seems no one really wants to argue with the milkman when they think a crazy lady is going to come over and smash milk bottles over both of their heads. Who knew? Before this frenzy (I suppose you could call it that) sets it, Harmonia maintains a rather tense and false peaceful exterior. She's all smiles and dainty quotes about love and peace and all that nonsense and, for the most part, she's incredibly polite and well spoken. She'll never pick a fight with someone or swear or insult them but, at times, she might just point people in the direction of where they can get a quick punch in and get it out of their system. Hey, a fight that's easy to win is a fight that's over quickly, right? And so once it's out of the way people can go back to being peaceful. Perfect logic, of course.

Harmonia has a very slight problem with people who don't listen to her worldly advice (that would do them a great deal of good should they listen, don't you know) and who tend to punch and then think (*eyes family members*) and people who just have no manners whatsoever. If they could just sit the holy Elysium down and think for a second, maybe their little disagreement might be solved in a manner that brings better results than fisticuffs in the corridor. Unfortunately, when it boils down to it, Harm's strong opposition to actually starting fights and taking part in them means that she often seems like a pushover, or is extremely frustrating. Most of the time she ends up saying something that could be taken as defeat or it could be taken as her agreeing to disagree. Which she would never admit to doing, because that would be admitting to accepting to pursue an argument. It's all very silly really.

» History:
So everyone's got their little story, their weakness, whatever you want to call it. The Trojan's, hey, they bet on the wrong horse, Pandora's was the box thing (*is totally stealing Disney lines and running with them even if they are wrong*) and yeah, Harmonia had a necklace. Don't go thinking that Heph is a quiet, troubled guy in the corner with a bad leg who's actually "really nice" because from this girl's point of view, he's a vindictive git. But, I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's do the hustle back track.

Right, so Cadmus, along with a government, city, power, etc. is given, by Zeus, Harmonia to be his wife. I don't quite know how they worked that out, but you know Harm's not one to argue so it happened. All the gods were at the wedding. Cadmus gave Harm a robe and necklace, which had been given to him by Hephaestus (who appeared to be a little peeved that his wife was sexing it up with the War God). This necklace, commonly referred to as the Necklace of Harmonia, brought great (and terrible!) misfortune to all who possessed it.

Polyneices, who inherited the necklace, gave it to Eriphyle, that she might persuade her husband, Amphiaraus, to undertake the expedition against Thebes. Through Alcmaeon, the son of Eriphyle, the necklace came into the hands of Arsinoe, next into those of the sons of Phegeus, Pronous and Agenor, and lastly into those of the sons of Alcmaeon, Amphoterus and Acarnan, who dedicated it in the temple of Athena Pronoea at Delphi. The necklace had wrought mischief to all who had been in possession of it, and it continued to do so even after it was dedicated at Delphi. Phayllus, the tyrant, stole it from the temple to gratify his mistress, the wife of Ariston. She wore it for a time, but at last her youngest son was seized with madness, and set fire to the house, in which she perished with all her treasures. - Extract from Wikipedia's version of that story >.>

After this little hiccup *cough*, Harmonia didn't really get up to much but, in her husband's old age and her immortality, they were both metamorphosed into dragons and were sent to live in Elysium where they could be together forever, in peace. Aw.

» Personality:
Although stated earlier that she is perfectly polite, not insulting etc., Harmonia does need some sort of release in a world of turmoil. This comes in the form of waging war in very little, rebellious ways, putting mugs in the glasses cupboard and spoons in the section of the draw that should have forks, and so on and so forth. Others might not notice such small things like this, but Harmonia knows the truth and she knows the fight she's taking part in whilst she rebels. Part of her dies a little every time she does it and another part of her gets a thrill from it. When she passes the point when those tiny rebellions are not enough for her, she moves on and goes to causing trouble (minor trouble) with other people. She doesn't have to dislike them, but she will never start something with someone she knows is aware of her antics. These antics would only be known to people very close to her and someone she would trust deeply as she'd never confide her uncouth acts in someone she thought might spread them around, because that would be most silly. She wouldn't out rightly say something horrible about them but she'd imply (not always subtly) something bad about them so, when the other person tried to start a fight properly with her, she could claim complete innocence... But that's only when she's feeling particularly daring.

A great deal of her time is spent avoiding the news and soap operas, the ultimate bearers of bad news, and instead focusing on the more peaceful sides of life and taking part in various relaxing activities such as tai chi. She also enjoys the occasional peaceful protest now and then, keeping the peace between both sides of the argument and often being told where to shove her bull... Well, she doesn't really enjoy the latter and neither do the people involved especially when she decides to show them exactly where they can shove their bull but that is a completely different story and is best for drunken story time and Christmas.

When feeling particularly bright after a peaceful day or during a sociable mood, Harm is quite a chipper and pleasant person. Her politeness is at its peak in these moods and very rarely will she start anything when she's so happy. Unfortunately, the longer she stays amongst the modern world, the less often these moods become. In order to be so happy she requires peace and, well, as an anger management therapist in New York City, I don't know how often that will be. These days she can seem quite tense in person, always on edge, always looking as if she has something else to say but never says it. It takes a lot to actually make her crack and get angry, as she's had thousands of years repressing angry streak. The violent streak, not so much, as noted in the 'Weaknesses' section. It had never been much of a problem in the past, bodies were easy to sweep under the carpet and gods didn't have a huge desire to stick their noses into their siblings' business an awful lot. Things were easier then. *sigh*

» Sample Journal:
Good gracious! I have hands!

Hmmm, this is a bit of a pickle, isn't it? Only one thing to do, I suppose, and that is to make the most of the situation. I don't see much point in making a fuss.

If I do recall correctly and, please, correct me if I am wrong in saying that the rest of my family is here? Not in its entirety, but enough of it for a family reunion to take place. No~?

» Sample Roleplay:
There was a distinct sound of an argument brewing, the bitter edged words of the couple indicating a possible domestic. Harmonia's hands clasped in her lap and she watched the pair with "understanding" eyes. He had "anger management" problems. She was "always right". This was really a job for a marriage councillor, but Harmony had been able to bring herself to disagree with them. Instead her gaze remained serene, the cogs in her head working overtime, trying to remain calm.

The expressive hands had started and each of the couple had begun pointing. That was rude. Very rude. Especially considering she had been being nothing but kind to them, taking them in, listening to their trivial annoyances. But then, they were paying her, so they had little reason to be completely civil with her. But manners cost nothing except time and it seemed this pair and nothing but time to spare.

With an attempt at making it sound as sorrowful as possible, Harmonia sighed and tapped her pen. One, two, three, pause. One, two, three, pause. And then she stopped. A quick glance at the silver watch draped delicately over her wrist told her there was still forty five minutes left of this he-drama. How discouraging.

One, two, three, pause. One, two, three, pause. Five minutes passed by. The voices grew louder, blurting out nonsense over the other in an attempt to win a pointless fight. The teeth, gleaming minty freshness, clenched inside Harmonia’s mouth, her jaw-line tense with anger.

Was it so terribly, terribly hard for people to get along? To live carefree lives? To not pick out every flaw in others and make a display of them? She didn’t think so. She really didn’t think so. It was unnecessary and, to some extent, so was the upturning of the coffee table and the smashing of brand news mugs. But that didn’t start an argument, no. Instead she watched the couple shut up very rapidly and hurry out of the room. They wouldn’t be taking their trivial fights out in public again, oh no. And that was good, because if they weren’t fighting in public, they may as well have not been fighting at all.
