Angel Sanctuary
I seriously wouldn't advice this show for people who are not open minded. Mostly because it deals with incest, and lets just say the angels aren't exactly the 'good guys' in this plot. However, in my opinion, this story is brilliant. A work of art even. The series itself is really short and cuts a lot out, much different from the manga that is much more elaborate. Since I find the series rather incomplete I'm mostly going to talk about the manga.
The main problem is the main character, Setsuna, is in love with his little sister Sara. And now I'm going to find it hard to discuss this...Anyways! Eventually the mother finds out and tries to separate them by taking his little sister, who turns out to also be in love her brother, away. Setsuna thinks is for the best and doesn't really intend on stopping them. Now I'm going to stop here and go on another subject for awhile...
Turns out Setsuna is the reincarnation of Alexial, a great angel who rebelled against God. Some evils come to earth to find Alexial only to find out she's stuck in a human boy's body. Angered by Setsuna's attitude they have a hard accepting this. Not to mention he's in love with his own sister. ANYWAYS!
Kurai, the younger evil, starts developing feelings for Setsuna, so now she has both feelings for him and Alexial....Kurai rocks*coughs*. So gets all upset by the fact that Sara and Setsuna are giving up on their relationship so easily so she interferes etc etc. Eventually Setsuna, man I skipped a lot..., decides to go after Setsuna and as a result they run away together. They live happily for awhile, being in a relationship and all that good stuff, tillAlexial interferes which results in Sara's death etc etc. Setsuna is upset by this thus letting out Alexial and almost destroying the whole city, world, whatever. Kira, Lucifier, Lucifiel, whatever, finally calms him down. Kurai, Kurai's cousin, actually his brother, Kira, and Setsuna come up with a plan to get her back. So Kira kills Setsuna and he goes all through Heaven and Hell in search of her. AND THEN THE STORY BEGINS. UGGHH!
Very very long series, but when it ends you wish it didn't. My personal favorite part of the manga is the relationship between Michael and Lucifer. You know the whole, Lucifer willing went to Hell and brought Michael's only love with him. Michael feels betrayed by this...I don't want to ruin the story.
Anyways, I really really make this a must read. It seriously makes you think and the art is just plain beautiful. And I don't feel like typing anymore. Adios.
