Saturday I went and had my hair done. I love it. I had 5 inches taken off! Don’t worry, it’s still below my shoulders. :-) I was amazed at how long it had gotten. Anyway, now it is short enough for me to be able to wear dread falls, so I plan to make a set soon with the help of a friend.
Then we got ready and went to London for White Mischief, which has occasional Steampunk events. I was quite impressed with everything about it.
We checked into our hotel room, which was within walking distance of the Scala, where they were having the event. We had dinner at a very nice Italian restaurant and we got ready to go.
I wore a maroon skirt which I haven’t worn out before, but I love it and also my new Victorian riding jacket. I LOVE this piece of clothing and I would order from them again because their customer service is very good. I have my eyes on another top and also from another company a pair of pantaloons and striped tights. Anyway, the Victorian riding jacket is superb. I am going to change a few things about it to make it mine, however, including the buttons and buckles on it.
The event was crowded but not packed. We got the VIP tickets which meant that we could sit down, which was great. We spent a lot of time on the balcony, which is where our friend Andrea met us.
The costumes were GORGEOUS. It was a feast for the eyes! LOTS of good looking men and women!
The entertainment was absolutely awesome, even though some of it wasn’t to my taste, it was top notch.
There are at least three bars and various rooms with different entertainment, acts, vendors, things to see and do.
There were people taking Victorian style photographs, a man playing two old phonographs with music from the 1920s on 78 (superb!), walk about characters like Queen Victoria, and a lot more.
The stage acts were:
Mysti Vine - Burlesque - very good - beautiful.
Perhaps Contraption - My least favourite band. Surrealistic marching band.
Morgan and West - Victorian magic - very good and amusing.
Keda Breeze - Burlesque /angle grinding! See a woman use an angle grinder on her G-String - and see sparks! I’ve seen acts like this before so it didn’t surprise me.
Sunday Driver - Raj fusion/Steampunk band. Really liked them and downloaded some of their material.
Jackie Le - Aerial - a woman and her rope. Excellent.
Anna The Hulagan - Fire hoop - I love anything dealing with fire!
Tankus the Henge - Band. OMG they were so good. Nothing on iTunes to download so I am downloading from other sites. SO SO SO exciting and fun.
Unfortunately, I missed the snake walkabout. I would have loved to have seen a biiiiiig snake. :-)
To be honest, the entertainment was really worth it for the price. There was always something to see and do and people were so nice and polite. I’ve been to a lot of clubs in my day and this one was superb. I saw friends, I chatted and I had a nice time. :-)
The worst thing to happen was a drunk guy came up to me and Kevin staggering on his feet and saying “Woah...woah...WOAH”. It was pretty hilarious!
We got in very very late as the entertainment doesn’t start until 10:30PM and crashed in our hotel room.
It was a great evening out with great friends.
