I have decided that since we have a rather large garden, instead of just putting in a hedgehog house, we are willing to build a shelter to overwinter several rehabilitated hedgehogs at a time until they can be released.
By several I mean between 10-50 hedgehogs - until spring and until they find a new home.
The structure will be about 5-6 feet long and will hold a bunch of hedgies huddled together like cannonballs (with lots of hay inbetween)! Then we can release them in different places.
Anne is keen on the idea as she is running out of room for the animals.
We (Harper Asprey) hope to be able to buy land this year and build an animal hospital on it soon. Then we will have more room for hedgies and other wildlife.
Now to find the time to make the damned thing; in the meantime, Kevin is going to make the hedgehog house for releasing a few hoggies.
