A week or so ago I wrote about Socks, a fox with completely white back legs, which is very rare. He had trouble walking and standing and Harper Asprey were working with him to try to gain some mobility.
He progressed a bit and then just stopped progressing. This week he had to be euthanized.
He could never be released into the wild again, but if he would have learned to walk again Harper Asprey were going to keep him and take him to schools for educational purposes. He simply wasn't doing well enough and the quality of his life would have suffered.
It seems that the balance section of his brain was under developed. We do not know what caused this and it wouldn't have gotten any better.
So, RIP Socks -- we at least gave you a good few weeks out from the elements. You would have never survived in the wild.
