Origami Master at Work

Feb 12, 2007 11:52

The linked video shows Origami Master Satoshi Kamiya at work. He builds a Phoenix out of a huge piece of paper, with over 1300 folds.

This man's spatial perception is ridiculous. I bet he would make a good theoretical mathematician.

Watch for the lunch box, it's hilarous!

neat stuff, humor

I *love* origami and this was just WAY cool. What a gorgeous phoenix. I hate origami that only vaguely resembles the object it claims to model.

I'm still trying to conquer the Kawaski rose (angled version, not the straight version).

Many years ago, there was an origami workshop at the public library. They taught us how to fold some simple things - it was disappointed for me since I had already done those things. But it wasn't a complete waste. There was a beautiful origami dragon on display, about the same size as the phoenix in the video. It was way back when, before the days digicams, so I don't have pics. And the guy wouldn't tell me how it was done.

That's awesome. You should post pictures of your work to Flickr. :)

That’s crazy. But what’s even crazier is the pink person who stood over his shoulder for the whole ten hours.

I'm guessing she's the referee... to make sure he doesn't pull out some glue or something like that. :)
