Stone soup dinner was absolutely wonderful. I'm really, really glad that we managed to organize it, and that we could do it while the maximum number of people were here, and that it actually turned out really tasty. Even if we didn't eat until, like, eight thirty, it was just great to see everyone again, especially Ari (before she goes running off to Japan and all) and Claire (whom I haven't seen in forever). Max I will see upon returning to school, and Katie lives nearby (even if we don't see each other often, which is a shame), and I'll see Steph at the wedding (and then, of course, she's also disappearing overseas) and Emma will be around for a few more days (and then she, too, will be lost to the Orient)... but yeah, it was really good to get that many people together. We ate good food, shared a lot of stories, laughed, and were generally goofy all evening. Claire made a little sentimental speech about how we're just like the soup we made, in that everyone is different and contrasting, but we're still "tasty and filling," to use her exact words. We then had a very long stretch of goodbyes, and then I drove Katie and Max home, and Steph and Emma are likely still on their way taking Ari and Claire back... I work in the morning, but I don't have to be out the door until nine thirty, so I'll see if I can wait up until they get home, just to be sure.

I'm not sure about plans for tomorrow evening (though I imagine that doing some writing for Deus Ex Machina would not go amiss), but Wednesday afternoon will likely be Rattlesnake Lake, provided I can contact Tanya and get vague directions there. Will likely call her tomorrow evening.

To tell the truth, I'd much rather not go to work tomorrow and be able to spend time with folks a little more... but such is life. At least it's a short day.

Also, having driven my brother's Mystique around all day so that Steph could use my Altima to pick up and drop off folks, I have renewed appreciation for my poor little car. Even if its wheels and brakes are rather, um, vocal... it still handles like a dream. Not to mention that it's been slapped with two new pacifist bumper stickers and a new Darwin fish. I love that car.

work, deus ex machina, joy, love, cars
