I think I crack H up sometimes (or perhaps annoy her?) because since taking torts last semester, it seems like I see liability and potential lawsuits everywhere. This has resulted in, among other things, my furiously monitoring the iciness of our sidewalk this winter, and salting generously.
That's why we were both quite amused when we saw this in our monthly mailing from our local town:
Sidewalk shoveling:
Illinois law protects individuals who remove snow or ice from sidewalks about their property from liability claims due to alleged injuries caused by snow or icy conditions. Please remember to be a good neighbor and shovel your sidewalk.
So I guess that should set my mind at ease, right? ;o)
