oh alberta. the conservatives won every single seat here. what a strange province though: it's the most right-wing place in canada, and yet the green party received a higher proportion of votes here than in any other province.
i just can't believe the conservative guy won in my riding. this is the guy who, several years ago, double booked himself and instead of cancelling one of his engagements, like a mature and responsible adult, got his assistant to phone in to the cbc radio interview and pretend to be him. he got caught out, denied it for several days, finally admitted to it, and still people vote for him, in the face of such blatant lying and duplicity. and what really chaps me is that he's not even good at being cunny and sneaky: the idiot got caught. so he's a liar and a moron, and everyone knows it, but he won a seat in the house of commons. it is precisely this kind of stupidity you see in the fellow voter that makes a person just want to throw their hands up in the air and say "fuck it" when it comes to politics.
