Takanori’s breathing was heavy, swallowing large pockets of air during each of them, and licking his bleeding lips to keep them from getting dryer than they were. Tears were still pouring out of his eyes, choked sobs rising to the surface and he clenched his shirt and chest with his weak fingers that had scratch marks all over them. He felt like a dying whale. A dying, crying, whale. He felt too heavy to help himself, and knew no one else would come to his rescue.
His face was buried in the corner of the room, his body sprawled against the floor, and his bare skin turning blue. He was freezing and he swore he could almost feel the red liquid coming out of him turning into ice as well. The image was disturbing to him and he didn’t want to think about what he looked like at the moment, all he knew was that he was broken.
He tried to get up, but the desire faded away when he remembered that his master wasn’t allowing him to leave the cold basement until the sun rose. When was that going to be, Takanori didn’t know. He didn’t worry about it too much. He allowed the pain and cold to embrace him with bitter fingers, closing his eyes and trying to enjoy a strengthening moment.
He decided it would be best to think about the good things in his life during times like these, although with his situation, it was rather hard. He smiled to himself nevertheless and tried to keep it on his face with flashbacks of silly moments with Kouyou or sarcastic jokes with Yutaka. These things allowed the smile on his face to stay where it was.
Akira.
Akira’s promise.
These things were coming back to him now, and he remembered the velvety smooth voice of Akira Suzuki telling him that he would be out of there. That he would let him out. That he would have freedom. Takanori smiled his widest, causing his bruised cheeks to hurt, but he didn’t care. He had to smile. Thinking about that made him happy.
He couldn’t wait until Akira gave him his freedom. He shut his eyes and drifted off to sleep, thinking of Akira and what he had said, and that only.
-
Akira paced in his living room, not being able to sleep or think about anything else but what Takanori had gone through. He knew that next time he went there, Takanori wouldn’t come out to say hi or to see him. Yuu probably wouldn’t allow him to be seen in such a horrible condition that he was probably in. Akira didn’t want to picture what he now looked like, but he couldn’t help the sad image from appearing in his head.
He also didn’t want to think about the nearly impossible promise that he, himself, had made to the younger boy. What he had promised was much too big to be able to solve so quickly and so easily, and he knew that it would take a lot of strength to make that happen. Perhaps he could reason with Yuu, or maybe he could just turn him in to the police so that the boys would be free.
But if he did turn him in to the police…wouldn’t Takanori be sent to an orphanage? Kouyou would probably be set free to do whatever his heart desired because Akira could easily tell that Kouyou was more than 18 years old. He was free. Whereas Takanori was no older than 15, and if Yuu DID go to jail, Takanori would have to have someone to take care of him.
That wasn’t what Akira was trying to accomplish, since he knew that Takanori wouldn’t be okay with it. He needed to find a way to get them out safely, without getting himself in trouble, or the boys. He sat down in his chair and stared blankly at the wall, pondering quietly and the plans that lay ahead of him. He shook his head at stupid ideas and crossed them out mentally, making many more in his head.
While he was thinking, a loose thought came to his head. The price of the house was swimming around in brain juice, no matter how hard Akira was trying to focus on more important manners. Seven billion dollars was not cheap, and Akira really couldn’t help thinking about it. As the price floated under his train of thought, a bright idea came to his head, but faded slightly when he realized how stupid it could be.
He shook his head and tried to push the thought away, but it kept returning to him like a cold wind. Something he couldn’t ignore. With that, he knew that maybe the plan was meant to be, and that’s why it wouldn’t leave him alone. He grinned slightly, but it was a reluctant grin nevertheless.

“Wake up, Taka…” A quiet, slurred voice filled the stiff air of the servant boys’ “room”, along with the strong scent of warm pancakes, bacon, and a hint of sweet orange juice. Kouyou placed the plate of food in front of Takanori, shaking the boy softly so he wouldn’t cause anymore damage to his wounds. Takanori wouldn’t wake up, which alarmed Kouyou, making him shake Takanori much harder than before.
Takanori’s eyes opened, tears swelling up and a shriek of pain accompanying the rest of the senses that were dancing in the air. Kouyou stopped and patted Takanori’s limp body softly, attempting to soothe the pain that he had awoken, not making much progress. Takanori managed to sit up, and allow the tears to stop pouring as hard as before.
“I brought you breakfast.” Kouyou smiled, obvious embarrassment shining through his features. Takanori rolled his eyes and glared at him after, shoving his friend slightly with his finger, not doing much harm. Kouyou looked down at the plate of food before picking up a fork with bits of food and pushing it into Takanori’s mouth.
The boy spit the food out on the floor, where mice hurriedly picked up the scrap and ran for their lives. They stared at the mice until they reached their own part of the basement, and soon Kouyou had more food on his fork and was raising it up. Takanori gave a disgusted look before pushing away the fork and sticking out his tongue. “I’m not hungry.” He muttered.
“But Taka! You have to eat!” Kouyou squealed, pressing the fork to Takanori’s lips. “Akira is coming back today and you know he won’t pay attention to you if you are all skinny, and helpless, and gross!” Kouyou wrinkled his nose, managing to push the food into Takanori’s mouth that was now wide open. The younger boy actually swallowed the food this time, before having the unmistakable expression of joy in his façade.
“He’s coming back? Already?” His eyes lit up, causing Kouyou to smile and not for the reasons that Takanori thought. Kouyou nodded before continuing the feed the midget who spoke in between bites of food. “Why is he coming back so soon? Do you know?”
“Yes.” Kouyou nodded simply. “He’s coming back for a meeting with the master. I heard that he wants to make some sort of deal with him about the payment of the house or whatever.” He shrugged this time, watching Takanori’s expression brighten up even more than before. “No biggie, really…although you seem excited.”
“Oh, yeah…well…you know…I was excited because you’d finally get that boyfriend you have always wanted.” Takanori giggled indifferently, receiving a lazy shove from Kouyou. Takanori looked at him and the smile was still on his face, but it seemed a little disappointed rather than excited.
“I don’t know. Taka…” Kouyou answered, taking some food off of the fork himself. “He doesn’t seem like my type. He didn’t leave as big of an impression that I was expecting. You know?” He started eating the rest of the food and Takanori nodded. “But I think he left an impression on you, since you brightened up when I told you that he was coming back.”
Takanori laughed loudly, soon lowering his voice when he realized how big of an echo there was.
“I’m not interest in him.” He stated clearly. “He just promised me that he’d get me out of here. That is the only reason that I’m excited.” And he wasn’t lying. Takanori had no plans or intentions on befriending this man, or getting close to him. All he wanted was his freedom and he couldn’t care less about the rest of the world.
“Why would he make such a big promise like that?”
“I don’t know.”
“You barely know each other.” Kouyou was baffled.
“Yeah, so?”
“Why does he care?”
“I don’t know.”
“Maybe you left a good impression on him.” Kouyou’s sentence ended the small discussion, causing Takanori to quiet down. He didn’t even want to think of the possibility that this man could like him. If he did, that would just ruin what was going on. Maybe he’d ask for sex in exchange of his freedom. The thoughts crossed Takanori’s mind and he was now upset. Too upset to say anything. But he didn’t show it much. He just stayed quiet.

Akira Suzuki was sitting on the office of Yuu Shiroyama once again, just about 2 hours after Takanori and Kouyou had discussed his coming. This time, Takanori was nowhere to be seen, whereas Kouyou was the one that escorted him to Yuu’s office this time. It was a bit of a disappointment, but he didn’t think too much of it, since what was in front of him was more important at the moment.
“You want to…share?” Yuu’s face was reddened with pockets of laughter grazing on his face. He had his hand over his lips as he cackled at Akira’s nearly absurd request. Never, in all his years of salesmanship, had Yuu heard of someone wanting to share the product with someone else, in this case, the seller. He didn’t want to seem unserious, but there was no other response.
“For a week or two, so I can see what it’s like to live here. If I like the house, I’ll pay full price, if I don’t think it’s worth it, and then perhaps I could pay half of the house, plus half of the bills and maintenance needed. After all, the problem with this house was that it’s too expensive to take care of, eh? So if you have me, it wouldn’t be so expensive.”
Yuu was thoughtful for a second, and then he nodded briefly.
“You’re right.” He admitted. “That IS the problem.” He stayed quiet before speaking up again; a smile was now shining on his face, a smile that had some sort of feeling to it, leaving Akira shocked that people without a heart could still smile so nicely. “Very well…since you’re pretty hot, I wouldn’t mind having you sharing this house with me.”
“Great, then, when can I move-“
“Buhp-buhp-buhp.” Yuu placed a slender finger on Akira’s lips, causing him to shut up. “Not so fast. I have some rules.” Akira nodded in agreement and Yuu started writing things on a sheet of paper:
Rules
1. You may not enter Yuu’s office without permission.
2. You may not hire someone to work here without permission.
3. You may not create any friendly relationships with the staff that works here whatsoever.
4. You may not enter the basement.
5. You may not have conversations that are casual with the helpers.
6. You may not help the helpers.
7. You may not listen to the helpers when they say negative things.
9. You MAY order the helpers to do things and help you out.
And the most important one…
10. Don’t ever…EVER…touch Kouyou.
Yuu slid the sheet of paper over to Akira, and he quickly examined it. He found most of the rules unreasonable, but it wasn’t his business to say what was reasonable or not in this case. All he wanted to do was get his plan in session and this was the only way that Yuu would agree with it. He nodded and Yuu pulled out a pen, marking an “X” so that Akira signed next to it, agreeing to what was going on.
Akira made his mark on the paper, receiving a pat of approval from Yuu.
Kouyou saw and heard everything, and he dashed down the stairs to go inform Takanori.

Author’s note: I’m so sorry! ;A; I’M A HORRIBLE PERSON!
I took way too long on this chapter, and I guess I have a good excuse, but still! Well, I’ve been having a lot of trouble with certain classes at school, which by the way…I’m supposed to be doing homework for…anyways, I haven’t had any free time to write this. I also have had a lot of problems with my “friends” for the past week, so it really sucked. :|
I’m glad I finally got time to do this right now since I couldn’t sleep and thought it’d be a good idea to do something. I hope you guys like this chapter and that you haven’t given up on me~
