It was hot, regardless of the air conditioning that had chilled him to the bone during the beginning. Yuu was sweating buckets while Kouyou had some people making his hair nice and neat, he was avoiding anyone’s eyes at the moment. He took a bottle of water and drank while Yutaka kept giving him pointers in front of the mirror. It’s not like Kouyou was paying much attention to what the other was doing either, but it was something that Yutaka felt was needed for Kouyou’s success.

Yuu’s stomach churned inside of him, a gross, tired feeling coming over him. His glare stared straight at Yutaka as he continued to talk to Kouyou with that smile…oh and the way that Kouyou wasn’t pushing him away made it hurt the most. The way that Yutaka momentarily wrapped his arms around Kouyou and gave him a friendly kiss on the temple drove him insane. How he wanted to be able to run his lips against that silky skin once again. Those lips that made him hungry and caused him to question his sanity.

Not that he felt there was any sanity left inside him. Kouyou had taken every bit of it since the moment that he set eyes on the other’s beautiful dancer body. And the moment that their lips touched ever so slightly was the day that his mind went nuts. Kouyou was a drug, and now that Yuu had allowed himself to take him once, he couldn’t do anything but crave for more of the other. Kouyou, the drug, remained totally fine, and was as unapproachable as ever. He became harder to reach, and even harder to get a lot of him.

Yuu watched Kouyou get up from in front of the mirror and take a few steps towards the door that lead out to the stage. How long had Yuu been in his thoughts? He hadn’t noticed Kouyou being called out to dance and mentally face palmed. He quietly approached Kouyou, hoping that Yutaka would move out of the way before he went to talk to Kouyou. He was feeling horrible now and the urge to vomit was heavy inside. Just a little closer. He just had to get a little bit closer so he could reach Kouyou.

He pressed his palm against his shoulder before making Kouyou stop in his tracks. Kouyou gasped silently, a little bit of the glitter that was in his hair shaking off, the silvery specks landing on Yuu’s shaking hand. Yuu swallowed hard and he didn’t know what to say. He could have perhaps planned this out before he had actually talked to Kouyou. He moistened his lips with his tongue as Kouyou stared at him in an annoyed manner.

“Good luck, beautiful.” The words left Yuu’s lips before he could realize how pathetic he sounded.

Kouyou looked at Yuu’s hand as if considering the fact that Yuu loved him. He shook his shoulder a little, knocking Yuu’s hand away from him. He looked at his hand once again, then looked up at him with a disgusted, maybe kind of a disappointed face, Yuu felt his hear rushing even though those eyes weren’t looking at him with any intention of wanting his love, but he didn’t care. He loved Kouyou’s eyes and they made him feel happy.

“Creep.” Kouyou muttered as he walked off, pretending that Yuu couldn’t hear him.

But Yuu heard him.

Yuu heard him just fine.

A few tears in his eyes, a sag in his step, Yuu still walked out to sit down in the audience to watch his love perform. Everything was dark except the light that illuminated the stage. It was much colder out there than it had been in the dressing rooms, so Yuu shook slightly, bumping into someone when he did so. The person grunted softly of discomfort and Yuu quietly apologized, trying to keep still in his seat.

He wondered what it would feel like to be Kouyou right then. There were so many people watching him, but he couldn’t distinguish the faces of any of them. Not even the judges. The judges were kept hidden in a box that was on the ceiling. They could see everything that Kouyou was doing, but they watched it from a better angle so they didn’t have trouble scoring Kouyou’s performance. The most important people in the room were the best hidden.

As the song started playing and the spotlight was right on Kouyou, Kouyou’s lip quivered slightly before he got into a position and allowed himself to be taken by the rhythm in the song. Yuu and Kouyou had not practiced that song, but the practiced similar songs, so the moves were practically the same. Kouyou didn’t want to practice that song that he would dance at the contest because then the routine would become monotonous and he would lose all of his passion for the dance.

He loved the song that was playing, at least that much was obvious. A smile grew on his face, 2 lose strands falling from his perfect bun and his eyes glistening. He looked like he wanted to break free from all the bad things that had happened around him. How lonely he was and how he just wanted to engulf himself in happiness for just one day. Oh, Kouyou looked happy at the moment. He looked like all of his greatest wishes had been fulfilled, and that really scored him some points with the judges.

Eventually, Kouyou loosened his bun, letting his hair flow freely, leaving the band to fall onto the floor. The glitter filled the stage as he spun around repeatedly, shaking more and more of the glitter out of his hair and making him go into sudden bliss. His eyes closed for a moment and he saw himself home. And he saw flowers surrounding him in the garden, because his mom loved to have flowers in her backyard. He saw himself poking the bodies of bees and dashing away as they followed him around.

He saw himself. The happy, innocent Kouyou that was still in there somewhere.

The song finished after 7 minutes, and roaring applause filled the stage when that happened. He felt confident when he was sent back to the stage with several other contestants. He felt even more confident when they wouldn’t call his name. Oh, how overjoyed he was when they called him for 2nd place, right under a Russian dancer who had trained since she was 5. Kouyou felt that he scored pretty well, and decided that he was good enough to work by himself.

Without Yuu.

When he got in the room, he saw Kouyou packing his things, he was about to leave, he knew that but still, he wanted to stop him somehow. He knew that after winning the second place in the national contest, Kouyou wouldn’t need him anymore but he couldn’t let him go, not yet.

Kouyou averted his gaze from his bag and their eyes met. Yuu was about to say something but he couldn’t find the right word. Before he could say anything though, Kouyou spoke up.

“Yuu-san, I wanted to thank you for helping me, I really appreciate it. I wouldn’t have won this place without your help.” He said with a smile.

Yuu smiled back. “You don’t have to thank me; I was just doing my job.”

“Still it was really nice, working with you I mean.”

That sounded suspiciously like a goodbye to Yuu and he didn’t like it, he didn’t like it at all.

“You know, you can get even better before participating in the international contest, that way you’ll have more chances to win the first place.” He said, hoping to, somehow, convince Kouyou to stay, even if that meant more practice and not dates and stuff like that.

“Um… yeah, about that… I think I’m ready but thank you for the offer.”

And with that Yuu’s hopes got crashed like a glass falling to the ground. But, still, there was a small, flickering light, a single thought that made those pieces connect with each other again. Maybe he could still prevail this graceful creature in front of him on staying, if not for ever, for some more time at least, by his side. He just needed an excuse, a way to lure the dancer closer to him.

“So, you’re leaving?” He asked, a plan already formed in his mind.

“Yes.”

“Before you go, I’d like to show you something.” Yuu said, mentally crossing his fingers and praying for his plan to work.

“Really? What is it?” Kouyou asked, tilting his head to the side a little in a really cute way.

“It’s in the changing-room, come and you’ll find out.” He answered with a smile.

“Ok, just let me take my bag.”

With that, Kouyou took his bag and followed Yuu to the changing-room.

When they entered the room, Yuu closed the door and turned towards the honey blond dancer. He crossed the sort distance that was separating them and kissed him forcefully, catching him completely off guard. He pressed Kouyou to the wall behind him and deepened the kiss, being pleasantly surprised when the other responded, kissing back just as passionately.

Kouyou was stunned when Yuu kissed him, he definitely didn’t expect that to happen but he couldn’t say that he didn’t like it. He responded to that kiss instinctively, wanting to feel more. He wrapped his arms around Yuu’s neck, pressing himself closer. He felt Yuu’s arm travelling down his body, squeezing his rounded bottom and he squealed, getting out of his daze and realizing what was happening.

The dancer pushed Yuu away from him, almost causing him to fall down on the floor.

“I- I need to go…” He murmured, grabbed his bag and dashed out of the room. Almost running out of the building on his way to his car.

“What was that?” He thought.

Yuu kissed him and he kissed back and he had enjoyed it. And the Yuu had… touched him and he freaked out. How had he gotten caught up in this mess?
