I'm happy to report that the claw is back to normal. Because of having to grip the horns of the mechanical bull that was trying to throw me off the cliffs of the Himalayas, I wound up not being able to use my right hand very well. Let me put it this way: cutting butter, brushing teeth, grasping and pulling the zipper on a backpack, tying shoes, holding a tea cup by the handle, and flipping pages in a book were all things I was having trouble getting my right hand to do. I'm very happy that I'm able to type again and that there don't seem to be any lingering effects. Therefore, when I get back to my not-so-secret lair, I should be able to type up a good bit of my trip (oh, and grade my students' work).
I have 4 1/2 CDs of pictures from the trip. These will, of course, get culled. Some of them are part of this funky feature my dad's little Canon digital has. It takes panoramics and actually saves the left third of the picture on the LCD while he rotates to capture the rest of the scene. It helps him line up the shots so that he keeps the camera on the same plane. Aside from that bit of coolness, I'm pretty sure I don't need to post 3 Gbs of photos in LJ. So, it will take some manipulation and editing, but there will be a few pictures.
7 hours is a long way to drive, so I'm going to tackle it tomorrow. Mostly this is because I went over to JJ's place on Saturday to watch the World Cup and didn't get return to my parents' until 1 a.m. this morning. Yep, I wore the same clothes for 38 hours of World Cup madness, lived on beer and brauts, and slept with a hairy beast named Nikota. (Nikota needs to discover breath mints and stop shedding, but he's a dog, so neither is likely.) So, I will be returning to my not-so-secret lair on Tuesday, since I'm spending today packing and watching World Cup matches in Espanol since the local broadcast Spanish channel is actually broadcasting the games live (something ABC refuses to do for fear of pissing off it's daytime TV audience for a fortnight). I hope tyratae will understand.
I'll write lots more, and remember how to use cuts (hopefully) when I'm back at homebase.
For those who are reading this and attending the OTP, I must extend my regrets. I'll miss you and the power tools (but not the mosquitos). Happy b-day in advance to all the little boys. Take care.
