1.) When he first came to Boston and Sam asked him to be a bartender, he was excited. He had a feeling it was his calling.
He still feels that way today.
2.) It was true that Coach was the only one who answered his letters. In fact, the Coach had asked if he’d be a roommate in one of those letters.
That’s why he came to Boston. Well that, and to exchange another pen or two.
3.) He had truly loved Beth and thought she would either eventually move to Boston or wait for him.
Once Leonard came into the picture, his dream world was shattered.
4.) He truly did think Sam and Diane were meant to be.
He wonders why Sam didn’t try harder to make her stay when she returned.
5.) He had a crush on Rebecca before he met Kelly.
He wanted to keep it at that because he didn’t want to mess up the illusion that she was perfect for him.
6.) Kelly is the love of his life and didn’t think he could love her any more than he did.
He loved her so much more when she gave birth to their son.
7.) He loves Cliff’s knowledge of everything in the world.
He still wonders why nobody else does.
8.) He looks up to Sam as a father figure.
So it’s no wonder that he thought of Diane and Rebecca as mother figures.
9.) He hated Henri with Kelly.
He hopes he never sees him again.
10.) He tries to never mess with Carla unless everyone else is.
He doesn’t want to act more stupid than she thinks he is.
