The rosary came apart in her hands, beads and prayers scattering across the hard wood floor. If Natalia was hoping for a positive sign, this certainly was not what she expected. It wasn't just the beads that were rolling away from her, but the entire situation with Rafe and Olivia were no better off than the shattered beads - skittering off in different directions. It seemed that her prayers, no matter how forceful or fervent, provided little solace and even fewer answers. Even if she were able to find all the beads and mend the rosary to its original form, there was no certainty that her efforts to do so with her family would be equally successful.
