Comfortable Up Here - ABX (Lil Wayne "Comfortable" vs. Röyksopp "Happy Up Here") - for
unfortunateggs and
la_fono Whenever Andy stepped through the elevator entrance, she always took a quick look to the left, just in case there was a surprise presence that she wouldn't be able to see as the doors opened. Once, that had been Irv Ravitz, at another time, it had been someone blubbering away in the corner. As time moved forward, she came to understand and enjoy the periodic moments of silence in the elevator. Miranda's litany of instructions and questions would cease the moment she stepped into the lift and would not resume until she was seated in the Town Car.
Ever after, Andy would always remember those elevator rides as being a quiet moment of peace and tranquility; freed from expectations of phone calls or those of terrified staffers. Their synchronized breathing had created a bubble of comfort.

Shut Up and Take Me Out - DJ Y (The Ting Tings - Shut Up And Let Me Go vs Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out) - for
lowbatterie There were the times where Andy or Miranda attended functions without the other. Early on, their "non-appearance" would set the tongues all wagging at this apparent hint of impending doom on the relationship. Yet, if there were cracks in the facade that for all intents and purposes, was mutually happy, they never grew into fissures that ruptured and spilled themselves onto the celebrity pages of the various gossip tattlers.
In the early years, Miranda demurred at attending too many of Andy's journalism related functions; she did not wish to become the focus of a room full of sharp eyes and even sharper ears, and draw too much attention to herself. Similarly, Andy would often take assignments that coincided with events where she knew any focus on her would have inevitably shifted to the age difference between the two women. Fortunately, these times were few and far between the usual evenings out where the two might be seen with Miranda's daughters at the cultural events that afforded few opportunities for anonymous tipsters to speculate on all and sundry. The theatres, cinemas, and galleries all seemed to be only able to yield dark blurry pictures of two figures that might have Andrea Sachs and Miranda Priestly, head bent towards each other - gaze focused upon the performances on the stage, or the screen, or even artwork on the wall.

That's not my wild name game thing - The Illuminoids (The Ting Tings vs. Shirley Ellis vs. Tone Loc/Peaches vs.The Supremes vs. Divine) - for
punky_96 Of all the details that Miranda Priestly chose to remember, the name of her second assistant garnered no ranking and no notice. Early in her career, she had finally been able to keep an assistant who was both competent and efficient -- two characteristics that she prized above everything else. Over the years, she might not have been able to recall their names, but there were the few that had finally earned their names and her attention to the fashion and style that served them best.
Emily could be considered the latest in second (raised to first) assistants that had earned her name (finally). The constant experiment of eye shadow combined with the ever-changing shoulder widths were always an interesting experience. It may have seemed a cruelty to have Andrea tell Emily about Paris but it really was a test of both assistants and how they would deal with setbacks and difficulty. Both Emily and Andrea would never know the true price that might have been exacted from them if Emily had not been struck by a taxi and Andrea had found some other way to carry out Miranda's demand of telling Emily the change in plans for Paris.
