Drabble: Cream

A/N: Written for the prompt/timeline meme for unfortunateggs as right after Stigma
One would have imagined that all the coffee Miranda Priestly drank would have to be of the no-foam, searing hot, skim lattes. And yet, that was not the entire truth to her caffeinated preferences. On various occasions, she would drink a mug of hot (but not searing) coffee splashed with a dollop of rich cream and savour the memory of true sweetness against her tongue. These sorts of Saturdays were never frequent -- time to coincide with her daughters absence, they were a refreshing change -- the ability to speak to another as an equal as opposed to needing to appear as the feared Dragon Lady of Fashion.
There was something inherently soothing to exist in a silence that was only broken by the occasional sip and murmur. More than anything, Miranda prized these moments where there were no expectations and no decisions that needed her presence. It was the comfort of being able to drift quietly and only return back to reality when someone else spoke and broke the spell.
