Breaker, Butz, Esparza, Leavel, O'Hara, Ripley and More Set for MCC's Miscast Benefit By Ernio Hernandez
February 12, 2009
Daniel Breaker, Norbert Leo Butz, Raul Esparza, Beth Leavel, Kelli O'Hara, Steven Pasquale, Alice Ripley and Aaron Tveit will appear in MCC Theatre's annual benefit, Miscast 2009, March 9.
Current Third Story star Kathleen Turner serves as honorary chair for the event at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom. All proceeds benefit MCC's production, play development, education and outreach programs.
The evening will feature performances by Broadway stars performing classic show tunes. The catch is they perform songs for roles in which they would never be cast.
The starry lineup currently includes Daniel Breaker, Norbert Leo Butz, Raul Esparza, Beth Leavel, Kelli O'Hara, Steven Pasquale, Alice Ripley and Aaron Tveit. More to be announced.
Last year's event found Cheyenne Jackson belting Show Boat's "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man," Patrick Wilson teasing with Gypsy's "Let Me Entertain You" and Kelli O'Hara, Brian d'Arcy James and Steven Pasquale singing Spring Awakening's "Totally Fucked."
The evening will also honor producer Elizabeth I. McCann for "her commitment to producing new work and reaching new audiences both on and Off Broadway." She presented Broadway's Equus and will co-present the upcoming Hair revival.
"Show only" tickets as well as tables are currently available by calling Mara Richards, MCC's Director of Development, at (212) 727-7722 ext. 236 or by visiting mcctheater.org.
