A Dragons fell off horse!Sam last Wednesday and I've royally screwed up my back and hip. Sixty billion x-rays and ultrasounds later, I'm told I have a grade 2 tear of the gluteus medius muscle near where it joins the ilium. So basically I fell off my horse and ACTUALLY busted the right-hand top middle of my ass. Between the squished nerves and

Accupunture - it did work eventually for me, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, but as I said, I was so bloody tight those needles they tell you don't hurt? JFC on a bicycle, they lie, if you're in pain and you're tense? - yeah, so take some pain killers before you go. However, if you catch yours quickly, get the treatment as soon as you can I think you'll be in a much better position. Don't expect immediate results, sometimes it can take 2 or 3 sessions before you can fee the effect.
TENS thingy I'm sure will help you, they have variable settings and strengths, so your body doesn't get used to the signals - keep changing the settings.
When you start to feel a little better, do you have anywhere that's offering those new high tech 10 minute work out places where you stand on this vibrating board thingy - hah, excuse my technical talk here. My sister has had laser surgery on her back twice now for nerve damage and was due to go in again, on the waiting list, she's been going to the local sports centre that offer these machines and she's cancelled her surgery she feels so much better, she's also reduced her medications by half too, so look into that as it might actually help you with the L5 problem, by strengthening the muscles around the injury without any straining.
Pain killers - talk to your doctor there are some new meds about that specifically target nerve damage, if you need more info, I'll ask my sister as she's had them. Once you feel a little better and can manage without the heavy meds - keep taking over the counter stuff - it's vital to keep your pain low or else you'll be holding yourself in tight without even noticing and that damaged nerve is going to take longer to heal. Best thing I know of is to take ONE ibuprofen plus ONE paracetemol, every four to six hours or when you feel the pain, they work so much better in conjunction than taking two of anything and are pretty safe.
**hugs** Best of luck hon.
