End of Days

Just today got in touch with the last of my Queensland peeps I was worried about with the floods. She's a little soggy, but fine. *\o/* Much better off than many, many people she knows. :(

Fair warning: This footage might be difficult for some of you. This horse is exhausted and resigned, and that's hard to watch. But this is what an epic number of people are staring at all day long over there right now, and the water is still rising. People have died, lost everything they owned, had their entire houses and businesses pushed off their property and destroyed. But there are an extraordinary amount of people doing kind and selfless things amongst all this heartache, so this horse got lucky. Even if some guy had to kinda STAND ON HIM to flag down the help they needed.

In drier, happier news, FIS called me tonight to discuss the possible genus of the bug he found in his shower. And to ask me if it was okay for him to drink one of the ginger beers he bought in case I came round his house and wanted a ginger beer. When I hung up, we'd been on the phone for an hour of easy, uncomplicated, tangential conversation that left me smiling.

The man has emergency ginger beers in his fridge for me.

I...need to arrange a time to drink those.

fis, oh the humanity, rl, things which are craptastic
