About once a month is pretty good for posting, don't ya think?
So quick news:
1) I've already started my new year's resolution by posting the list of movies to watch, and I've already seen some of them! Cross off "Citizen Kane" and get ready to cross off "Good Morning, Vietnam," "Sunset Boulevard," and "Dr. Strangelove!" I either have them rented or bought, so hopefully I'll get more watched! w00t!
2) This quarter is going great! I actually really like my classes. I'm taking 3 English classes, a first for me, and it's a LOT of reading. I don't mind though. I'd rather read than do math. :) I'm taking a class all about Toni Morrison, where we're rereading "Beloved"...takes me back to high school...then, I have a class on comedy and humor in fiction, which is interesting but the professor is a poet (bleh!!!) who thinks he is amazing and has the most ANNOYING voice in the world, and finally I have a really interesting class class "Tradition American Fiction," which is exactly what it isn't. We're watching key terms, such as "culture," "race," "religion," and see how literature has shaped the meanings and associations of those words over time. And we get to update wikipedia pages! How awesome is that!?
3) Finally, after a year and a half, I decided to leave U Village Starbucks. Actually, it was more out of necessity than want. Basically I wanted to get promoted, and my manager strung me along, thinking that I would get the job, but then at the last moment decided that a) I wasn't ready (which is BS) and b) she didn't want to hire any more supervisors. What a biotch :) I don't want to leave my friends, but I just wasn't getting treated well there by management and had no possibility of moving up. Now I'll be at the 164th St. Drive Thru, over by WalMart, where the manager there is excited to have me on staff and really wants to get me promoted ASAP, maybe even look into managerial positions!!! Sweet! It'll be good for my future, but it kinda sucks right now. I didn't want to leave like this, but it had to be done.
Anyways, I'll let you all go back to slacking off. Peace!
