An awkward week

Apr 02, 2005 16:42

Well, the season of Lent and Easter has ended for the year of 2005. We tried to be good people for 40 days and 40 nights in respect to what Jesus did for us-die for us on the cross so all of our sins are forgiven. Every Friday within these 40 days, all of us Catholics tried to make a little sacrifice and tried not to eat meat for the entire day. On some Fridays, I was successful, but on most I let my temptation take over my eating will. Yesterday marked the first Friday since February, that I could actually eat meat and not feel guilty or second think it. Even though I enjoyed eating this wonderful group of food on one of my most favorite days (Friday), there was just a weird feeling going around. One of the most well-known and honorable person in the Catholic religion is the Pope. He not only runs the entire religion, but he has (according to some people) made a gigantic impact throughout the entire world. Tens of thousands of people gather wherever her goes, just to get a glimpse of the man in the white robe and pretty cool gold hat. His health had begun declining earlier this week, and news stations from all over the world had minute to minute coverage on his status. And if you all haven't found out already, this profound human being has been called to the most prestigious and storied houses of all, Heaven. I believe it is unbelievable of how big of an impact one single person can make on the world. There were special masses, thousands of people gathering outside of his private apartment, and more tv air time than the Super Bowl. So he lived a pretty nice life, may he rest in peace, and may it be a joyous reunion with the Big Man upstairs (God). Some say that the passing of the pope, may be the beginning of the end for the world. From stories saying that the Virgin Mary had 3 tombs built for 3 people. 2 tombs are already filled with the previous 2 popes, and this 3rd one may very well be vacated with John Paul II's body. With all 3 tombs vacant, the myth is that the next and upcoming pope may very well be the anti-Christ. Another story states that the Virgin Mary told one person a huge secret concerning the coming of Jesus. Now the only person who knew "The Secret" was John Paul II, whether he "Told 'The Secret'" or not, the mystery still remains. But the question-Are these myths true?-remains with all of us. So may God help and bless us through this time.

Even though people pray for themselves if not the entire world, there are some teams, four to be exact, praying to God asking for a nation championship to be in the possession on April fourth. These four teams-North Carolina, Louisville, Michigan St., and Illinois-begin their journey into the championship game as they play their final four games tonight. North Carolina has way too much speed and experience for Louisville. Even though North Carolina has proved that they can be beaten, they have come way too far to let that strike of kryptonite hit them. So I predict the Tar Heels to advance to the national championship on Monday, defeating the Cardinals of Louisville-89-72. No.5 Michigan St. will try and steal a victory from Number one Illinois. And quite frankly this robbery may be too impossible for the Spartans to pull off. The Illini have way too many shooting guards-literally-to stop Michigan St. from being a threat. The Spartans pulled off a pretty nice upset against the Duke Blue Devils, but this Cinderella story, I believe, ends here. Which leaves No. 1 versus No. 1. As far as the national championship goes, as I stated earlier, the Tar Heels have proved during the regular season, that they are beatable. Which is why I predict the Illini to become the new NCAA Division 1 Champs for the 2004-05 season. But all of these are just predictions, we shall witness these historic games as they emanate from the home of the world's most famous arch, the home of storied R&B artist Nelly, and not the mention the home of this year's NCAA Final Four, St. Louis. Well this "Awkward week" is coming to an end, so may all of our wishes, dreams, and prayers come true.

I'm Paul, keep it rockin' people!
