Life's been pretty weird lately. My body is playing some awful tricks on me which, btw, i don't appreciate. First off, yes it isss 430 am, and I'm still awake. So there's number one problem right there. I can't sleep for shit lately. I dk if my sleep schedule just got knocked back late over xmas break when me and gruber were regularly out til 5 or what. It's really becoming problematic. I was really tired at 11 so i tried going to bed selling it to myself as "well I'll be really rested to study tomorrow". And it worked, for like an hour. So i wake up at 1230 ish and by now I don't want to study at all. So basically an entire night wasted, well I did look at old review questions... But basically wasted.
The other annoying thing is that I keep forgetting to a) go shopping and then b) eat. Its not like im doing this on purpose but I'm in an almost perpetual state of hunger/being sick to my stomach lately. I'll feel so full I want to puke and then suddenly be starrrrrving. But, because I forgot to go shopping, I HAVE NO FOOD! I'm currently eating Cinnamon Toast Crunch out of a St. Louis Cardinals baseball helmet I found in our cabinets if that means anything to anyone. Basically I need to go shopping tomorrow and eat like a million baked potatoes :D (shit i wish i hadn't said that, a baked potato would be sooooooo good right now)
And while I'm on negative subjects, Exams are coming up next week. Fucking yay! Do i really need to say much more here? I think not.
BUT LETS GET TO THE GOOD THINGS!!!!
Ultimate Semi-formal was this past Wednesday and was totally fun. All the girls were looking fabulous of course as they dressed to impress. (Britt, if you read this you better watch out. Steph had some miiightly jingly earings. She could be gunning for your title of jingliest earing champion). It was nice seeing everyone on the team because I haven't seen a lot of them in a while because I usually do the conditioning by myself since it's such a hike to get the Rec Plex for the group session.
Later that night after a two hour nap I headed over to Lindsey's house to be initiated in the ways of Invader Zim. I arrived at like 5am, god only knows how/why i woke up and decided to go, and proceeded to watch the second season in almost its complete entirety. It's a pretty funny show actually. Parts of its humor are very similar to the jokes that myself and Michael Rice (who was at semi-formal btw, and still as hilarious as ever) will make with each other. It isn't enough for there to be absurdity in the world around the characters, the characters are also aware of this absurdity. When Dib, the sort of villain sort of hero?, gets a phone call while giving a speech to himself, the caller actually asks "Were you just talking to yourself?" and Dib replies "Yeah i guess i was, i kind of do that a lot.". Anyways, I was invited to THIS party after I met/re-met Lindsey at the P.O.D. after-banquet party that was the previous Friday. The party was (until a certain episode which many of you are aware of) a grand ol time and I was some kind of um... out of it. I learned a valuable lesson about how far to take "always a good decision" that weekend :P
Anyways, Lindsey segways into the next happy event, which was seeing The Hold Steady feat. Catfish Haven & Sybris on Friday night at the Southgate House.... oh god, I'm suddenly really tired now, thank god. I'll finish this tomorrow, ciao!!!!
*finished up as of um, now*
*New current tunes = "Over the Hills & Far Away (live)" by The Led Zeppelin*
Ok we're back! Now to get to the concert. I had been waiting for this show for nearly 2-3 weeks and was totally psyched because a) The Hold Steady fucking rock b) my besterest friend Brittany Lynn Menninger (sorry Britt, I just like your middle name too much), who I had seen sparingly as of late, was going to be attending with me. The day of the show however, I received some bad news. I should have anticipated this of course, but her bf Brad was also going to be in attendance as well. NOW BEFORE YOU GET ALL WORKED UP THIS WASN'T BAD NEWS BECAUSE I HATE HIM OR EVEN DISLIKE HIM!! Jeez, chill out already. INSTEAD, it was bad news because it meant I was potentially going to be a third wheel all night long, WHICH I HATE MORE THAN ANYTHING EVER! But, my faith in a just and loving God was once again well placed, because who should we see almost instantaneously upon walking into the club, but Daniel J(I have no idea what his middle name is, but J is cool) Rosplock, and his friends Liz (whom I had met previously and is very cool) and Canadian Chris (who I had only heard of in legend). I WAS SAVED!! In the end it didn't really matter anyways because the rocking was too much to ever feel even remotely awkward. Not long after joining forces with the Miami crew I saw Lindsey (of Invader Zim fame) on her way to the merch counter. I stopped her and we had a quick chat. Apparently she had come with Joe (last name unknown) who way back when lived across the hall from me. He let me use his printer once when mine was broken; thus cementing his place in my list 'people who are cool' forever. We talked about the first band, Sybris, who had just finished up there set and the reviews were unanimously positive. She is currently earning serious brownie points (note: cannot be exchanged for actual brownies) by ripping their CD for me. Wellp, I grow bored of writing this. I’m gonna wrap things up. Catfish Haven was the second band to play and they fucking rocked. As Britt put it “This really makes me want to dance!” She was dead on too, the music was rocking, but totally danceable. It was something that would not be out of place at a backyard BBQ or something like that. Just plain ol good rock! And then The Hold Steady came on. What can I say, fucking amazing. Just straight up drunken rock & roll for an hour and a half. At the end of the show we even got to jump up on the stage and dance with the band!! Yeah, be super jealous. However, Lindsey comes out on top because a) she was pulled up by the singer and b) HE GAVE HER HIS GUITAR TO PLAY!! How cool is that? I’ll answer that question, its “very fucking cool”. Anyways, after the show was over we were surprised by the appearance of yet another comrade, Alex Schworr. Then I bought some stuff and went home where I slept a lot.
Lol, ok, so the ending was weak but the generally important stuff was all there. I’ll probably post an entry about some more personal stuff later this week, but then again, I’ll probably forget. Oooops. Adios!!
