14 Months old!

I know, I know, I missed a couple of updates and this one's even a bit late :)

We've been busy and there's always lots to do with a toddler running around.

So for starters, at his 12 month (1yr) check up he weighed in at 24.5lbs and is a long 33". Long and lean he is, average percentile for weight but once again 99th for length.

He wears 18 month tops and probably will be switching soon to 24 months. He still fits into 12 month pants, depending on the cut, but very soon he'll be needing 18 month ones. His shorts are 18 months and they almost seem snug. At least his growth spurts have slowed and I'm not shopping every few months for new clothes that will fit him.

The last few months have seen a huge jump in his understanding of signs and using them. Just this past week he started copying signs that he hadn't before, crackers, fruit and thank you. Today, when I asked him what he wanted he signed sleep and sure enough within 10 minutes he was dozing while having his milk.

He signs, milk (first and foremost), play, food, sleep, all done and more. We're working on thank you and please.
He waves hello and goodbye.
He has stated pretend play with his phones and tea set.

He had 2 molars cut recently. I'm still waiting for one of the front incisors so wasn't expecting upper molars. It explained the fussiness and drooling he had for a few days which I attributed to the incisor working it's way out, not molars. I now know to check for the lower molars. Silly Mum.

He'll eat just about anything that's put in front of him. He has a very good appetite. His favourite foods are bananas, cheese and macaroni with sauce. He loves fruits and veggies and has realised that my chocolate chip cookies are pretty darn tasty as well.

He has a screech that drives me crazy. I know it's him exploring his voice, and getting my attention, but really, it hurts. He climbs on everything and has recently discovered light switches. I worry that he'll fall off the day bed in his room and seriously injure himself. I think even if I put a bed rail up there, he'd find a way over it. Funny thing is, he didn't want to climb on anything at the park yesterday. Silly boy. Yesterday he got his very first skinned knee and elbow, and definitely not his last. Wasn't a big deal, he fell, cried out and when I didn't seem panicked he went on with playing.

He's friendly and enjoys the company of other kids and adults. He gives hugs freely. At the wedding we were at on his first birthday, he was nicknamed "The Hugger" Every child he saw, he gave hugs to, it was very, very sweet. He wandered all around the reception room and had a good time. For a little boy who was so very excited about what was going on, he was in a great mood despite being tired later in the day.

He has one nap during the day, most of the time it's later morning, anywhere from 45 min. (which sucks for both of us) to 2 hrs. (which is great for both of us) He's in bed by 7pm, some nights a little earlier and sleeps till around 6:30 or 7. Lately there's been more early 6am wake ups, but it might be due to being so tired he's in bed earlier.

He had a great 1st birthday with TWO parties. One in Oakville with family and one here. We were overwhelmed by the support and love from family and friends. Also, the amount of stuff he received was beyond generous. So many toys to play with, so little time.

He loves his snuggle time with me and watching Signing Time while sitting in his chair. Despite days where I'm frustrated beyond belief with him, I wouldn't trade it for anything. My little baby is growing up into an adorable little boy. Have I mentioned how much I love him lately?
