Move already!
I prepared my moving day with verve. I had everything planned out. Everything was ready 24 hours prior. It was perfect, it FELT perfect. It would have been the easiest moving day ever if it where not for one simple little detail.
The big stuff would not fit in my brother's van.
We insisted it would, so we played with configurations, paused and thought, tried to disassemble the problematic piece of furniture (which was not being cooperative with the person handling the screwdriver). Nope, we where humped, time was running by and figured that we had to do a second run and pick the lone item later. It would have been easy if my brother was not in a hurry, meaning we had to give him priority once he arrived at the new place and let him drive back home with me (as requested) to fetch the TV base from hell ASAP.
What would the other guys do? I asked them to wait for me before doing anything but that did not stick. As I was just about to embark on the Champlain bridge Anne called me to say that they where done and enjoying free pizza that one of the other tennants had called for. I came back
In the end I have to face the fact that I was not well prepared after all and it took more time than it was supposed to, but the good news is that people wasted time, not energy or effort. This was far from being one of those moves from hell where the guy you are trying to help is still not done hours and hours later.
Total time, if I remember correctly, was less than 2 hours. If no issues would have happenned I bet we would have been done with little over one hour.

ps. By the end of the day we had produced a crate of empty beer bottles. I slept very well.
