i am absolutely amazed at how many people have died during my first year at baylor. 2 ball room teachers and i think 3 or 4 students. it's very sad...

on thursday i was at the hospital. i woke up with slight abdominal pain but didn't really think much about it; thought it would go away if i just stayed home. i missed the faculty quintet concert, which was at 11, but i did go to my band literature course at 2. the pain had increased at this point, but i still thought it would just go away. at the end of class, 3.30, it was excruciating; i could barely stand up straight. studio class was at 4 but instead of going to that i ended up on the couches in fetal position. when studio class was over i was taken to the hospital. it turned out i had a 101.4 degree temperature, which explained the headache, and i was rushed into a room. blood was drawn, which took a while since my veins like to hide, lots of liquids were pumped into my system, did a ct scan, and a whole bunch of other tests were done. diagnosis: unknown. yup, this is the second time i went to the hospital and they had no clue what caused the problem. last semester was my hand - i woke up and could not move my hand. my middle knuckle was swollen and any kind of movement hurt like a mofo. another coincidence between these two mystery problems is that there was a wind ensemble concert that i could not participate in. i was in a cast fall semester and i was being poked and prodded spring semester. it's very sad.

it took me three days to recover so i lost three days of practice. there was a mock audition yesterday (monday) and i couldn't participate in that. it was very sad because i was looking forward to that, but can i do. i ended up playing in the master class afterwards and it was a good experience. victoria luperi gave a fun and highly educational master class. kudos to her.

juries are today...i should go practice...
