Been gearing up for NanoWriMo. I hope fate doesn't conspire like last year and sap all my time. In preparation, I've been reading A LOT. And A LOT of it was absolute trash, however, it was funny as hell because it was so bad (or that could be all the excess endorphins from going to the gym - yeah started that up, too).
Anyway, in reading, I realized that reading puts me in THE ZONE. No really, I've said it before in countless other places and to countless other people.
(aside: is it bad that right now it hurts my arms to even type? *sigh* Serious love/hate going on for the gym right now.)
When I read, I am immersed, completely. I hear the characters voices, feel their emotions, smell their surroundings. My senses are completely absorbed by what I'm reading (unless it's bad, in which case I'm still under the spell because I keep reading, but I won't bite your head off if you manage to interrupt me).
I have been reading so much GOOD stuff this week (both fiction and non-fiction) that perceiving the "real" world has been troublesome. Took A LOT of effort. I think that is contributing to my insomnia. I have to ... process. Gah... can't I just live in my books? No? Pooh!
