Title: Another Kiss
Rating: G
Pairing: Sokka/Suki

Disclaimer: Nickelodeon and Bryke own ATLA. I don’t.

Another Kiss

Suki couldn’t remember ever seeing such a beautiful sunset. This certainly made the whole traveling-through-the-Serpent’s-Pass thing more bearable-much more bearable. The sky was currently alight with orange, pink, and yellow. A gentle breeze blew, the air neither too warm nor too cold.

“Can I join you?”

Suki turned around. There stood Sokka, a tender smile on his face.

Feeling a rush of the butterflies, Suki smiled.

“Of course.”

Once Sokka was beside her, she said, “Thanks for the kiss…it was nice…”

She felt her face get hot.

“Yeah-it was,” said Sokka.

“Sokka?”

“Yeah?”

“I like you. I mean-I really like you-that way. But I don’t want to pressure you. I never knew that girl you mentioned-but can see how much you loved her. She was the first girl you ever loved, wasn’t she?”

“Yeah-Yue meant a lot to me. There was no way we could have been together because of all the stupid customs in the north-but I didn’t care…”

“How did she die?”

“It’s-it’s a long story…”

After Sokka finished the terrible story of the siege of the North, he looked down and wiped his eyes.

“I’m so sorry, Sokka…Again, I know you loved her, and you’re still grieving for her. Don’t feel like we have to be together. I’m not asking that of you. I’m just being honest about how I feel. That’s all.”

“Thank you for understanding. But you sound like you think I don’t feel the same way you do-I do. I just need some time is all. I care about you a lot. You’re a great person. And you’ve made me a better person. You taught me that girls can do anything guys can do. I’m not a sexist jerk anymore because of you. That’s gotta mean something, right?”

Suki gave a flattered smile.

“I would hope so.”

Sokka smiled tenderly again and said, “I think it does. I think it means I’m not supposed to let you get away.”

“Sokka…”

“May I have another kiss?”

“Yes.”

With that, Sokka leaned in and kissed her, and she kissed him back.
