Actor/singer/Civil Rights icon Paul Robeson + Muppet/national icon Sam the Eagle
I know Sam the Eagle was probably more based on Richard "Everything's Coming Up Milhouse" Nixon, but after watching the film Killer of Sheep and hearing Paul Robeson sing in that amazingly deep baritone voice of his, I think he had to have been an inspiration for Jim Henson, at least on some level. Call me crazy...
