Does anybody remember how the Conservatives lambasted Belinda Stronach for crossing the floor to the Liberals in exchange for a cabinet position? Now the MP who ran under the Liberal banner in Vancouver-Kingsway, David Emerson, has crossed the floor to be named Minister of International Trade on the morning the Conservative government was sworn in.
Throughout the campaign I held the belief that a Conservative minority government would be better than a Liberal minority government -- it's the perfect situation. We haven't had a conservative government in what, 14 years? With a Conservative minority now, they'll get a good chance to fuck the party up completely without the chance to fuck the country up completely. A Liberal minority, I feel, just would have made everyone so pukey that they might elect a Conservative majority the next time around.
Anyhow... I kind of roll my eyes when they say they can't believe Stephen Harper is actually PM, but to tell you the truth, the reality of it makes me throw up a little bit into my mouth when I hear him on the radio.
