He stood, staring out into the pitch black night. His mind was somewhere else, as was often the case anymore. His thoughts stretched out into the night, rolling from one thing to the next as if free from the constraints of logic and time. These were the moments he felt most at peace. When he let go and nothing mattered.
He felt more than heard her

“If you must know yes, and I took a cab so you don’t have to arrest me for driving while intoxicated.”
OMG, OMG, OMG. I think that could be a whole fic in and of itself.
"She hadn’t just saved him from prison; she had saved him from himself. She had seen parts of him that he had never revealed to anyone. She saw the despair and what it had done to him; how it had ripped him apart. Slowly, she had put him back together, helping him face the pain he tried even now to hide behind his charm and wit."
See, I love this. This rings so true to me. And, that's why the bond is there. I totally get this. I didn't think they had so much chemistry in the show, but I see him as having just a huge savior complex crush with her because of this whole thing. And, I love that you put that he IS hiding pain behind the goofiness. Cause, he is.
"She had seen the deepest darkest parts of him, and had stayed by his side."
And, I mean for her part, how could she not just fall in love with Charlie? And, to see him at that stage, the pit of hell and tranform to a functioning human being again. Such a history there in such a short time. And, I'd like to point out how the pilot has them talking in her kitchen and him asking if it feels like they are sometimes the only two people on earth after all that happened. And, really, that's such an intense image. I can see how they have this bond.
"....holding her up as she clung to the front of his shirt, the tears beginning now."
Awww, Connie. CONNIE. Poor girl.
Nice story!!!!

Part of the reason I love the paring is because of that tension and pull between them for all the stuff they've been through.
Okay, okay, the chemistry issue, I can kinda agree on her side...but have you SEEN the way he looks at her?! Specifically in the end of the episode before Fallen Woman (the name escapes me right now) when they're having "the conversation". I have to admit, my heart goes pitter patter every time. Guh. Go watch now!
Oh, and you are dirty. (It's only okay if the handcuffs are furry). Tee hee.
Thanks for your comments...let's see who can I write next to challenge your beliefs...hmmm...

And, dirty? Nah, me? Nah. (Though I hardly see Charlie carrying furry handcuffs.)
Yaaay! Implication of more fic to come? Please write more! YAAAY!

mmmm, on screen chemistry...gotta love it! If you love onscreen chemistry, then you really should watch The Office...just for Jim and Pam...cause...GUH! Talk about rip-your-heart-out chemistry/angst (especially first and second season, though third season also has a respectable amount of angst). Mmmm. Love it.
Anyway, enough rambling...gotta go write...or something.

and this is where you never speak to me again......the British version.
And, they had some chemistry in that one.
Never watched this US one, though. Eeek, please don't disown me!

I've heard from those who have seen both that the US office is better...soooo...you should watch it... ;-)
...this is where that annoying "try it, you'll like it" voice comes in...

And, every time I see a commercial for it, it looks.....not like the original.
Maybe if I hadn't SEEN the original, it would be different. But, Rainn Wilson and Steve Carrell make me laugh so damn hard in other stuff, you'd think I'd like it. I'll give it another shot.

Rainn Wilson and Steve Carrell are hilarious, and John Krasinski...well, I know it might be sacrilegious to say this...but he really does it for me...like more than Damian...*hides under desk to avoid objects being thrown in her direction* ;-)

*thud*
*wakes up, looks around, dazed*
More than Damian? What on earth is wrong with you, woman?
Well, you're probably much younger than me. Which explains maybe why he doesn't remind you of every goddamn guy you dated in college.
While, I, am the same age as the DL, so I think.....
MORE THAN????WHA?????
Okay, I'll watch it again, just to see what the HELL you're talking about, woman.
