The first of what I hope will be many

So I'm not especially new to the livejournal thing, but it's been a few years since I've actually actively posted on a livejournal blog (I do have another account...which I'm not giving out here because it would be downright embarrassing...musings of an excessively perky college student...*shudders*...let's just say I've become a bit more jaded as of late).

I'm too indoctrinated in academia to refrain from posting my purpose behind beginning yet another blog (of which I have many). So. Purpose = an outlet to keep my imagination and creative writing from being stolen from me by the soulless institution that is academia. (Wow. Positive.) I dabble in The Office and Jericho fandoms, and have written some things over at MTT.net for Jim/Pam, some of which I will post here. Emphasis on some.
There. Thesis statement over.

Random thought of today: The woman in the advertisement on the sidebar is staring at me with her wrinkled, slilghtly botoxed face telling me that I can look younger than I did in '97 with the help of Dermitage. Unfortunately, it appears the botox may have done her more harm than good as she looks like she's about 85, when in reality she's probably about 60. The bleach blond hair paired with the excessive wrinkles and plastered smile make it look like she's had a bit too much sun, and perhaps that bleach they're using has seeped into her brain. Okay. So that's probably a bit harsh. I just hope that I'm comfortable enough with  myself when I'm 60 to embrace the gray hair and say "F You" to botox. I mean, as much as I like the idea of injecting potentially deadly bacteria into my face, I think I'll refrain. But today I could start my free trial of "Dermitage" and look just like this woman. Sign me up.
Moral of story: Don't advertisers realize that the majority of people frequently LiveJournal are well under 65?

More actual substance later.
