I hate people.

I generally stay out of the political realm, because I really don't pay enough attention to it...at least, not enough to comfortably discuss it with people who I'm sure are much more savvy.

However, this bullshit is absolutely ridiculous.

For those of you too lazy to look at the link (and register for washingtonpost.com if not registered), it's an article regarding this Cindy Sheehan character who is camped outside of President Bush's ranch in Crawford, TX. I know girlnamedgreen had an inclination to travel down to Crawford this weekend and support this whack-job. I highly encourage her to reconsider.

Basically, this lady is pissed at Bush because her son enlisted in the military and got killed in Iraq. All political agendas aside - the guy knew what he was getting himself into when he signed up, and he paid the ultimate price while serving his country. I have quite a bit of respect even for reserves, because those guys have a far greater dedication to our country than myself. I'll fight if absolutely necessary, but until that day comes...these guys own.

If you've got a problem with the war, there are much better ways (read: most ways are better) to protest what's going on. You simply shouldn't use your son's death as a reason to bitch about Bush's decision to stick around, or be there in the first place. He's gone, and he died as a result of his patriotism. You're only denouncing the poor guy's name with all of this bullshit; if you really want to make a stand, aggregate all the mothers of troops who are still alive and fighting. I realize there a few of those in support of her, but she's directly marketing to mourning families who oppose Bush. It's just ridiculous.

So, if girlnamedgreen and her brother actually go down to Crawford to support this crazy, I pledge to forever classify them as true bleeding-heart liberals.
