I am so jealous you saw BB King. I love that guy. I also love Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, KoKo Taylor, Robin Trower, Etta James, and Sam Meyers who is the only one I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and hearing. He comes to a lot of the blues james we have here in Dallas. They hold them every Tuesday and I used to go to them all the time but not so much anymore. But this guy Sam is amazing. He's pretty old now and I have to re-introduce myself to him everytime I see him because he can't remember anyone anymore for whatever reason, but when they call his name to the stage that man remembers how to play the blues like he never missed a beat. I find it incredible that he can't walk real well, can't remember people, can't really see all that great anymore, but when he is on that stage it's like he never grew old and even boogies down a bit ( ... )

Yeah. I really wish that I was older when I saw that show. I would have appreciated it much more. I've seen the Allman Brothers Band also. And Buddy Guy twice. Both times, I got to meet him and we talked. My father was a local Chicago bluesman, and he had a few "ins" with the Chicago blues scene. He was the only white guy to play for KoKo Taylor during her Chicago Oktoberfest shows. He did that for about 5 years. I met alot of interesting people, including Lonnie Brookes and Melvin Taylor.

I actually got to have a really long conversation last summer with Shirley King (B.B.'s daughter) when I was working at Guitar Center. I sold her lead guitarist a ton of gear and I got her number through him. We held this "Bluesfest 2003" thing in the Guitar Center parking lot and I got her to come out (after offering numerous incentives, of course). I even got to sell her a guitar that she was giving to her father to sign and give away at a benefit concert in Michigan. That was really cool.
