Not that I had the rats running free in my apartment. nope. no way. never. not me. that'd be wrong. and violate the terms of my lease. and stuff. *looks innocent*

For those who are interested I have two rats, Pixel, and Nimh. Pixel is a friendly, perch-on-your-shoulder type of rat, Nimh is a taste-for-blood, hide under the desk kind of rat. They are vegetarians - I tried to feed them meat, cooked, raw, in cat-food, in people food, their reactions were to either hide the offending morsels under the newspaper until it rotted, or relieve themselves on the offering. I asked the former-rat-mum about the issue and she said "what? rats can eat meat?" the girls seem healthy so I've given up forcing the issue, they eat what I eat and they're happy so *shrugs* as a fellow vegie' it suits me!
