Ohhh, definitely need to read this! As far as I am concerned, the next Doctor is always an answer to the Doctor before him. Twelve is certainly no different - and I happily look forward to the writer of the article's perspective.
Then again, I do not understand the hate for Twelve any more than I understood the hate for Eleven. Both awesome, Doctory-Doctors and answers to their predecessors.
I get that. I think deep down Twelve is still that same Doctor. He just has to get there and go through a healing process. I don't know if he'll be more hopeful and full of life in this incarnation or if he'll get back there toward the end. I definitely see the potential though.
I like the darker Doctor storyline, but then again, it's about preference (or rather, what attracts me to this Doctor as opposed to others) I suppose in that regard.

I don't understand any hate for any Doctor but that's me.

My problem is merely that, I've always looked to the Doctor to be the optimistic hero, the one who is full of hope and curiosity and love of life.
I understand why from the story logic he would not be this way, but I just feel like we have enough angry, unhappy, traumatized heroes.
I always looked to Doctor Who to be something different than that.
