I expect better during the summer, Hollywood

Happy belated Victoria Day, everyone! w00t!

I have 18 work days left! Double w00t!

Tonight a group of us are going to see a movie, but the problem is, well... what? Theatres right now are not living up to my expectations of May movies. This is the time of year for good times summer bloackbusters. What do we have? Next, which isn't just a title, but a good discription of my reaction after I saw the trailer. Plus, Nick Cage... *shudder*

Spider-Man 3, according to all my friends, is a pile of dookie. Normally that wouldn't stop me from my next Superhero movie fix, but ALL my friends have told me that, which means they've all friggin seen it without me, and I don't feel like being that person sitting in the theatre alone. And, of course, none of them want to see it again, as they already feel like they wasted their money the first time.

Everything I've read about Shrek the Third is not convincing me to spend $10 to see the movie in theatres. I've already seen The Waitress. It has Nathan Fillion in it, so my roommate and I went opening week. I've seen Hot Fuzz twice, and would gladly see it again, but I don't know if my frieds will. 28 Weeks Later actually looks like it may be worth seeing, but I don't think I could drag John there with a team of ox. I also worry that I may illustrate to everyone in the theatre just how chicken shit I really am. I fear zombies (and other mindless killing machines, as the 28 Days/Weeks Later monsters aren't technically zombies) AND epidemics. I could go see Everything's Gone Green and support the local boy, but I just finished reading Girlfriend in a Coma, and I'm currently not speaking to that self-absorbed, emo asshole Douglas Copeland.

So, pretty much until PotC 3 comes out, I'm S O L. We'll see if I can convince my brother, who hates Will Ferrell to the depths of his soul, to see Blades of Glory. Outlook not so good.
